24-Hour Coverage Foundations: VIVA’s Top Picks

Paige Tucker | 26th September 2017

For the past two weeks, I have been testing out some of the nations favourite 24-hour coverage foundations, all in a bid to find out which ones actually meet their supposed requirements. From high street to high-end foundations I have bundled together my top 5 picks that will leave you looking flawless all night long.

First up is the most high-end foundation on this list, but you really do get what you pay for. Oxygenetix foundation is smudge proof, sweat resistant and doesn’t even come off in water! It is an Aloe Vera based product that provides healing properties to your skin and so it definitely won’t harm you to sleep in it.

I wore this all day whilst I was out and about walking and despite it being a super hot day, this foundation did not budge! I could not feel it on my skin at all and the morning after I still looked like I had fresh foundation on. So for those reasons, Oxygentix goes number 1 on my list for 24-hour coverage.

My only downside is the price. For such a small bottle it is seriously pricey at £45 in the UK or $66 if buying directly from their website.

Next up is Cliniques Beyond Perfecting foundation. This is going to be my new everyday foundation from now on, I am completely in love with the texture, coverage and the application brush. When I first put it on I was shocked by how quickly it transformed my skin, any blemishes I had were instantly concealed! What I love most about this product is that you can apply as little or as much as you want and the brush it comes with allows you to use it for just a concealer or for a full coverage foundation. It retails at £27 which for a high-end product is a super affordable price and it will last you ages!

The most surprising foundation I found was L.A. Cover girl. Due to the low price, I wasn’t expecting this foundation to work very well over 24-hours, however, it stayed on pretty well. The texture of this foundation was very creamy and it really hydrated my skin. Whilst it didn’t quite stay on the whole 24-hours it did stay on all day late until the evening. So if you are looking for an everyday foundation that is cheaper but lasts nearly as long as high-end brands then pick up some L.A. Cover girl now for only £10.99.

Bareminerals new Barepro foundation is another great foundation. Whilst I wouldn’t call this one completely full coverage as it aims to provide a natural look to your skin, it does definitely stay in place for a long time. It is super creamy in texture and I found applying it with a beauty blender worked better than a brush. However, ideally, it is supposed to be blended in with the luxe performance brush to give it a flawless finish. Priced at £29 on their website this foundation is great for a natural looking coverage that can carry you through the night.

Finally last but certainly not least is the foundation I have been wearing for months, Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion. From the bottle to the texture I LOVE everything about this foundation. It is so soft and light on the skin and even though you get amazing coverage from it, this foundation does not cake! It doesn’t claim to be 24-hour coverage which I agree with, however, it does claim to last a long time and this is very true. I can wear this all day, even to the gym and the foundation stays put everywhere except for my t-zone area. However, that is more likely because of my own skin type and due to how often I rub those areas.

The only thing that makes me a little sad is the price, I think I would buy this more often if it came down in price a little more. For a high-end brand, £35 isn’t awful but it also isn’t the price your bank account would like you to spend. But hey, if you love it as much as me then the little extra cash will be worth it.
