At Mr Lau’s Enjoying the Food

Have you been craving some authentic Chinese food? Looking for somewhere to take that significant other? Then I highly recommend Mr Lau’s Dim Sum Bar and Restaurant.

Situated in Warrington, next to Emily’s caffè bar, the food at Mr Lau’s is all made with fresh ingredients and cooked to order. It’s speciality, Dim Sum is made by a trained chef who specializes solely in the dish.

Viva was invited to sample Mr Lau’s extensive menu and here are our thoughts.

What was it like?

This restaurant transports you from a side street in Warrington a dainty restaurant that could be found in China itself with its beautiful décor and open space.

The gorgeous venue, however, was overshadowed by the mouth-watering food that was brought out for us.

For starters, we decided to try the scallops alongside ‘Har Gau’ (Prawn) and ‘Beef Sui Mai’ which were both from the Dim Sum menu- after all we couldn’t come to a Dim Sum bar and not try it!

They were unbelievable! The Dim Sum especially was so tasty, and we even got to see it being made which added to the experience. The scallops were certainly a highlight even the sauce they were swimming in was incredible.

After the starters, we sampled ‘Duck Udon’ which consisted of udon noodles with gamblers duck, hoisin sauce and toasted sesame seeds. The duck was cooked to perfection. The sauce complimented it perfectly as did the thick udon noodles.

We also tried ‘Lau’s Sichuan Prawns’ which were prawns covered in a spicy tomato-based sauce and rice. This dish was probably my favourite main. If you love seafood then I suggest trying this, or at least something from ‘from the sea’ when you visit, it’s simply incredible.

However, after the starters, we just couldn’t finish the mains. So keep that in mind when coming to dine here- I recommend sharing.

For drinks, we enjoyed some cocktails, very similar to the ones we tried at Emily’s caffè bar. The cocktails were original, delicious and fitted the food nicely.

The whole experience here was amazing, from the food to the atmosphere, and I highly recommend eating here. This isn’t a cheap restaurant but you are paying for what you’re given; delicious authentic food, lovely staff and a memorable dining experience.
