Actor Bruno Langley is multi talented when it comes to songwriting, singing and playing instruments.

Bruno, 33 is to release his first EP next month, featuring his own work, and with the musical backing of members of his own  family.

Bruno, who is best known for his role of Todd Grimshaw on ITV’s  Coronation Street said: “As an actor I play a character who is never far away from the dark side of life, so music is a complete release from that role.

“I am not leaving Weatherfield, Todd will be around on the cobbles for the foreseeable, however music has always been a passion of mine, and I am thrilled to be releasing my first EP, it has been about thirty years in the making!”

The EP features four melodic pop songs: Jump, Believe, Comeback and The Greatest Thing.

The first was written by Bruno in conjunction with sister Gita, and the other three are solely Bruno’s compositions.

Jump is a very catchy pop number about falling in love . The song is a cautionary tale about falling for someone, jumping in with both feet, and dealing with the consequences.

Believe features Bruno’s sister Amy proving backing on the strings, and is about escapism- taking someone away from their troubles and asking someone to trust you.

The third track ‘Comeback was inspired by TV programme The Big Reunion, and is about a boy band getting back together and hitting the comeback trail.

The final song-‘The Greatest Thing– is about his son, Freddie.

Bruno is influenced by wide base of musical genres ranging from Buddy Holly, The Killers to Amy Winehouse.

He said: “I grew up in a musical household and we were very fortunate in that we had our own music room. My father could just pick up and instrument and play it, and my four sisters are all gifted musicians , they play guitar, cello and violin.

“I find that it’s a bit like therapy to write songs, it’s a way of putting things right, of changing the way the story ends, and sharing your view of the world with other people.

“Other times you can write a song that is just a lot of fun, or maybe you’ve got a good baseline and it all stems from there!

“Sometimes a song just comes to me, it’s as if it’s always been there, and sometimes it fees like it floated in through the window. I find writing songs very therapeutic.

“I have to say a huge thank you to Mark Lewis who has produced the EP, and helped me put each song together.”

Bruno also enlisted renowned executive producer Mike Bennett for Jump. Mike , 50 has worked with some of the biggest names in music including:  Ian Brown, William Orbit, The Specials, The Fall and The Stranglers.

Mike said: “Not only is Bruno Langley a versatile musician, his velvet vocal textures are a delight, and his musical style transcends the genres. He is a consummate song writer with a vocal talent to match”

“Jump is an amazing track. In fact I love the whole EP. Although it uses a wide and varied range of influences, I think Bruno’s music will appeal to a wide and varied audience.”
