COOL POOL PARTY MOODBOARD

So summer is here apparently. The weather is a bit questionable we know but to hell with the rain why not throw a cool pool party with or without the rain and enjoy the garden anyway. Luci and Sanita from Luci Living Design have put together some great finds for the 2016 summer season so why not choose a date for your pool party, get the guest list sorted and get planning.

To serve delicious summer snacks for your guests check out these lovely party shaped serving trays in a set of six by www.wayfair.com

There is lots of beautiful coloured glassware and plastic tumblers around at the moment. Check out  www.johnlewis.com for some really colourful summer beauties.

Get your funky music play list sorted to save flipping through your iPod on the day.

Some great garden decorations will help set the mood www.dunelm.com have some jazzy garden tableware and decorations. We love these pink and white honeycomb paper decorations from www.johnlewis.com but don’t get them wet!

How about a Hawaiian theme? Everyone loves a bit of the tropical. These pineapple table vases from www.whitemint.co.uk are super cute. Use plastic ‘glasses’ for drinks as broken glass is not what you want to have to deal with round the ‘pool’.

A budget plastic pool will do the trick, inflatable toys are a must, a couple of plastic palm trees will add to the theme. To finish place your garden furniture around the edge with tables in between where guests can put their food and drink, dot about one or two bold sarongs on each chair, stick your straw hat on and finish tables with lanterns for the evening such as these ribbed ones from www.notonthehightstreet.co.uk.

Candles come into their own as the sun sets and if you are lucky enough to own a bigger pool they look very pretty floating in the pool at night. Citronella candles on tables are useful for keeping the bugs at bay and you might like to have some bug spray to hand as well (unless it is raining of course)

Garden décor is best if it is not over formal. Flowers on tables look great but your aim should be casual as if they were picked in the back garden and were shoved into a vase. If you want to cheat these white lillies in a vase from www.dunelm.com look pretty realistic and they have loads of artificial summer blooms

Here are some more ideas for cool pool part fun …..

Match Food to Your Theme – If your theme is “mermaids” serve fin and fishy shaped food.

Use Cute Containers – Fill little beach style buckets with snacks, summer shaped gummy treats

Decorate with Balloons and Paper Balls – Hang them from trees, string them along your fence. Fill balloons with water for an old-fashioned water balloon fight.

Serve Cool Drinks – of course

Ice Cream Station – Set up a make-your-own ice cream sundae bar, with sprinkles, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, cherries and some creative toppings.

Judge Crazy Jumps – Challenge guests to see who can do the most outrageous jumps into the pool. Have a couple of judges hold up signs with numbers to score.

Don’t forget the sunscreen or possibly your umbrella and above all have masses of FUN!
