Copper is right on trend this year, whether on walls, furnishings or accessories, introduce this warm toned metal in shiny smooth or hammered finishes to bring your home right up to date. The authorities on colour at Dulux have also predicted that warm colours, like pinks, reds and oranges will replace cooler tones of recent years, culminating in their decision to crown ‘Copper Blush’ colour of the year 2015 too. This colour really compliments other trends, particularly the use of mixed metals for interior furnishings. These warm metals have been popular in the design world for the past few years and show no sign of fading in popularity.

If you want a bold and edgy look, then this is the way to go. Either opt for subtle nods with the occasional flash of copper such as a bowl or plate, through to more daring statements by including copper furniture such as Masters chairs by Kartell available at the Couch Potato Company.

Copper can be paired with many paint shades such as grey, bold pink or even softer rose colours. Repainting can drastically change the look of your room so consider going copper this time and transform a dull area into to a fun and flirty room. Copper is ideal for girlie bedrooms, dressing rooms and ultra glamourous bathrooms. Throw in some yellow accents to brighten up the room and add something different.

If you want a harder more masculine look then pair it with dark bold colours, like black or indigo blue. Strong charcoal furniture upholstery or walls work well with copper tones and give the room a really stylish designer look. This backdrop would be a perfect colour scheme to add in dark brasses with less of a metallic sheen. I love this vintage 30’s inspired copper tripod light by Made.com or black and copper hammered bowl from House Of Frazer.

To embrace the 2015 copper trend big time, just go for it with copper everything! Consider a faux leather metallic look headboard for a bedroom scheme, copper metal furniture and lights. Use a copper blush shade of paint to the wall and add coordinating bedding. There is no shortage of hues or products available to mix together right now. Check out the range of niffy copper storage units at Graham and Green.

With its earthy colour Copper and other metals lend themselves well to neutral tones. Use soft cream or white as a backdrop to make a small room seem much more spacious and airy. This colour combination is particularly suited to living rooms. The colour doesn’t need to be used in excess and even small hints of copper can add beautiful accents to what would otherwise be a plain room.

The copper trend shows no sign of tarnishing yet. At Luci Living Design we love a bit of bling and all things shiny so we couldn’t be happier. Make copper the perfect companion for your home in 2015.Copper Crush Products A4
