DIY: Professional Looking Hair From Home

Are you someone who loves to change up their hair colour from time to time or cover those pesky greys with a splash of colour? Then you are probably use to the expensive bill that comes with this. Whilst I love a good salon experience, I always find myself cringing at the price I have to pay, when I know I could pick up a box dye for a fraction of that price, but noticeably look worse off for it.

But sadly, the high street box dyes many of us use are just not great quality and lack a wide range of colours. But I have found the solution for all you hair dye enthusiasts! A company called Esalon can formulate you the perfect colour to match your skin tone and colour preferences, giving you tons more choices than the average box dye colour ranges.

All you have to do is go to their website, fill out some questions about your hair history and skin tone and they will provide you with a spectrum of different hair colours to choose from.

Once you have chosen your colour you will then be contacted by their colourists asking for a quick phone consultation about your colour. They will then run through your options with you and find out what base colour you would prefer before getting to work on the magic.

After a week you will then receive your home dying kit in perfect packaging. Then all you have to do is apply it following the instructions provided. I left mine on slightly too long as I have thick and long hair and so my end result as shown was pretty dark. However, after a few washes and some time in the sun my hair did lighten to a beautiful brown/purple which I loved!

So if you like me accidentally leave it on a little too long then don’t panic too much, your hair will return to a lighter colour in time and it will still look amazing!

The next helpful DIY product which can be used after your esalon colour is EVERPRO zero grey. Their new range of products are my favorite thing on the market at the moment and everyone who dyes their hair should have some tucked away in their bag, especially if your roots tend to grow out quickly and are noticeable.

They have two product types currently, a spray and a compact powder and both cover your roots up within seconds. By using these you can leave your hair to grow out for longer without worrying that everyone will be looking at your roots! All you have to do is either spray or rub your roots with the product and they are instantly covered.

I naturally have light blonde hair and so when my hair grows out it is essentially white against dark brown, but with this product, it takes 10 seconds to cover up so it looks like I have freshly dyed my hair. Nobody would ever know I was a true blonde!

It is also water proof so if it rains, it won’t start dribbling down your face. If you want it out of your hair simply take a shower and use shampoo like normal and it will take out the colour. Then you can re-apply to your roots once your hair is dry again.

As you can see by the photograph, it provides a natural look and it blends in so well it’s hard to tell you actually have it on. Just be aware of touching your hair as if you apply too much, then the excess will end up rubbing off on your fingers if you touch your hair (this has happened to me a few times).

Also, if you have a friend or partner who could help you apply these products then it will mean the back of your hair doesn’t get left out and nicely matches your head, but if you don’t then don’t worry as they are pretty easy to apply.

I could not recommend these products more, so if like me you love to dye your hair, but also like to save some money doing so, then take my advice and invest in some DIY hair products and have life long flawless hair!

EVERPRO zero grey comes in three different blonde shades and three brunette shades, so you are bound to find a match. To get your hands on these then head to your nearest Superdrug or buy online for £12.99.
