Experience a slice of the big apple in Alderley Edge’s answer to the NY Deli

Set in the outskirts of Alderley Edge, in what used to be a car showroom, lies Aldeli, a family run American inspired food haven.

From brunch to lunch, and even a delectable range of sweet treats, Aldeli has a menu to suit all tastes.

We heard through the grapevine that Aldeli was THE place to visit for good New York grub, so we decided to head on in and check it out for ourselves.

We opted for an American inspired brunch. With a menu full of NY goodies, we weren’t too sure where to start. With a helping hand from Ilana we went with the gluten free pancakes, smothered in American style bacon and maple syrup, Shakshouka with spinach and feta and finally the all-American staple, a classic Reuben.

I have to admit I was a little dubious of the pancakes at first. Gluten free isn’t an option I usually go for, however, there was no need to worry. The pancakes were so lovely and fluffy. The bacon and maple syrup complemented the pancakes perfectly.

The shakshouka was next. The eggs were baked beautifully and the shakshouka was full of flavour. I usually go for eggs benedict or more of a traditional cooked breakfast however, a shakshouka is a great change, and something that is not widely available in other eateries.

Finally, we tested out the Reuben, the sandwich which has everyone talking. Made with fresh rye bread, homemade on site and filled with gherkin, sauerkraut, horseradish, mustard and mayo with melted swiss cheese. This had to be my personal favourite. Every bite was packed full of flavour!

VIVA Verdict: For an authentic American experience, there is no need to brave the streets of New York, when you can just pop down the road to Aldeli! A thoroughly enjoyable experience with a tasty and reasonably priced menu.
