One of the newest venues to hit the Manchester scene in the last year or so is Fumo, a part of the San Carlo group, located next to St Peter’s Square. After opening with a drinks menu to critical acclaim, the festive season is upon us, and with that, a new menu centred on the time of year.
Perhaps to freshen up after a long day at work as the nights draw in, The Vine Garden could hit the spot as Sean McGuirk, Fumo’s Bar Manager, blends together the grape based Esprit de June, the Italian styles of Roberto Cavalli vodka, a couple of drops of citric acid and topped with Fever Tree’s Elderflower.
Fancy something with a bit more style and fizz? The Sloe and Sticky should work well for any welcome drink to your evening as Sipsmith’s Sloe is combined with Chase Rhubarb, sugar, citric acid and topped with Italian Prosecco.
If you’ve enjoyed a dining experience at Fumo, why not finish off with the Brando? The highly exclusive Rhum St Barth Authentique (the only venue in the UK to stock such a spirit), Velvet Falernum, lime with chocolate and orange bitters work well within a cinnamon smoked glass to give you a look of a relaxed Marlon Brando any day.
Or maybe the Dark Centaur would tickle your fancy as Rémy Martin’s Centaure De Diamant, valued at just under £1000 in itself, joins Cointreau Noir and lemon juice for a very Merry Christmas indeed.
Head down to Fumo this week and try out a cocktail with a difference. The above is a selection of the menu on offer, I’ll be back at the bar to try my hand at the rest of the festive treats available!
