Finalists Revealed In Printworks’ Competition To Find Manchester’s Top Street Dancer

The Aim Sky High Company aged 10-16 made it to the final.

Seven talented Manchester dance acts have this weekend secured their place in the finals of The Printworks’ annual ‘Street Dancer’ competition.

On Saturday 15th August the finalists will battle it out for the chance to win a £1,000 cash prize and the opportunity to perform at the Manchester Christmas lights switch-on in December.

The acts, ranging from soloists and duos, to groups will take to the stage once more to perform their routines in front of a live audience and an expert panel of judges at The Pump Yard area within The Printworks.

Contestants impressed judges Tomas Simon, Mark “Swarf” Calape and Lizzie Gough.

Top celebrity dance professional, Lizzie Gough (So You Think You Can Dance Finalist, 2010) will be joined by Tomas Simon (Cheryl Cole and Ellie Goulding) and Mark “swarf” Calape (Cirque Du Soleil Michael Jackson “ONE”) to mark the contestants on their creativity, movement and delivery.

Online voting is now live, with the finalists’ open auditions available to view on YouTube. The public can have their say by voting for their favourite at by clicking here.  and these scores will be combined with the scores from the judges, together deciding who will be crowned The Printworks’ number one ‘Street Dancer.’

Fred Booth, Centre Director said: “There is an abundance of dance talent in and around Manchester, which is why it’s so important that ‘Street Dancer’ gives the performers the opportunity to showcase what they are made of. We hope the local communities support their homegrown talent as the ‘Street Dancer’ trophy is a great accolade.”

Twelve-year-old Kayleigh Roberts wowed judges.

The talented seven finalists include solo performers Niall Talbot, 10, Mia Ceraldi, 11, Tyler Barker, 16, Kayleigh Roberts, 12, and B-Boy Manix, 10, duo Honey and Sugar, both 9 and group The Aim Sky High Company aged 10-16.

On the day, dance professionals, Lizzie Gough and Mark Calape will also be wowing finalists and the audience alike with their own performances – giving them a taste of exactly what it takes to be a professional.

The live grand final takes place from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday 15th August.
