AbFab Joanna Lumley spills the beans on her favourite breakfast recipe

Who doesn’t like a bit of AbFab Joanna Lumley and now the star, and frankly our Viva role model, is urging Mancunians to host a breakfast party to help raise dosh for Manchester carers.

The 70-year-old has even revealed her favourite breakie recipe you can use to host an early bash or lazy brunch from October 10-16 as part of the Carers Trust ‘Britain’s Best Breakfast’ week.

There are an estimated 800,000 unpaid carers in the North West and the campaign, organised by the charity, will raise funds for its work to support children and adults caring for a family member or friend who is ill, frail or disabled.

The screen siren is one of a host of celebrities backing the fund-raising week and said:  “I have always considered carers to be the best of the best, and if the honours system were mine to distribute the country would fill up with my new elite, all composed of carers.  Carers count: add them to your list of Most Fabulous People.”

Linda Drury, North West Regional Manager for Carers Trust said, “For many carers, the morning is the most difficult time of the day and they often have to skip breakfast because they simply don’t have time for it.

“We know from research that skipping breakfast can have a negative impact on concentration and memory, so it’s important that carers have time and support to look after themselves too. That’s why we’re asking everyone to get involved with Britain’s Best Breakfast.”

And Joanna’s recipe, well it’s a baked-bean pate that the star says she loves.  “I love simple food, that is to say easy-peasy to make and delicious to eat.  If it’s spicy and savoury, so much the better. This dish will please students and oldies alike, and eaten cold from the fridge on sourdough bread… well, it’s sensational.”

You can add your own bolly! We will be at Viva HQ.

Britain’s Best Breakfast takes place 10-16 October. People are asked to host a breakfast for friends, family and colleagues to help raise money to support more of Britain’s 7 million unpaid carers.
