Hollyoaks star & Masterchef finalist team up to create intimate dinner at Hotel Gotham

A dazzling food event presented by three culinary superstars saw celebrity diners and Manchester’s finest ‘chomping at the bit’ to get a table at one of the most exclusive food events in the city this week.

Masterchef finalist David Crichton and Hollyoaks actress [and budding chef] Daisy Wood-Davis, who plays Kim Butterflied in the Channel 4 soap, collaborated with Hotel Gotham’s new award-winning head chef Ross Marshall to create a mouth-watering menu with a vegan-friendly twist.

Guests enjoyed the finest champagne and canapés on arrival in Club Brass, before embarking on a carefully considered five-course meal with wine pairings assembled by the hotel resident sommelier Alessandro Sardella at hotel’s Honey Restaurant.

Hollyoaks’ Luke Jerdy was also in attendance supporting his long-term girlfriend Daisy and looked like he was thoroughly enjoying the evening’s soiree with his pals.

Throughout dinner live soulful music was played by pianist Sam Emery while Coronation Street & West End Singer Victoria Ekanoye stunned guests with her vocal performance.

Straight from filming with Emma Thompson and the rest of the cast of the new Russell T Davies Drama ‘Years and Years’, George Bukhari was one of the famous diners spotted who is most known for his roles in BBC One’s ‘Happy Valley’, ‘Ordinary Lies’ and ‘The A Word’.

When quizzed about her dish, Daisy explained: “The inspiration behind the starter and cooking in general is that I’m really passionate about recognising the environmental impact of the food industry which is why even though I’m not fully vegan myself, I like to experiment with vegan dishes and prove that they’re not just for people with a vegan diet.

“Everything was in season and sourced from the U.K. I added borage to the gnocchi dough.

“This was to deliver something a little different and to celebrate this magnificent herb that holds some pretty powerful health benefits.

“It’s normally used for medicinal uses as an oil and can help with things from arthritis to asthma.”

Head chef Ross Marshall reiterated how important it was to use locally sourced food and to know where all your ingredients come from.

David Crichton had the guests in fits of laughter with his response what with his show stopper of a desert and his take on what can only be described as deliciously decedent deconstructed chocolate orange Cadbury’s Whisper: “I just like chocolate”, he quipped. Doesn’t everyone!
