How To Create A Festival Themed Children’s Room

With the arrival of summer comes festival season, and if you’re a music loving parent, taking your child along to a festival can be a fun and exciting way to spend time as a family. If you’re not able to head to one yourselves, however, but would still love to bring the carefree vibe to your child’s summer, why not incorporate the feel and style of a festival into your little one’s bedroom? Take a look at these easy tips on how you can get your child’s room worthy-farm ready in no time!

Set the scene

The first step in achieving this look is to transform your child’s bedroom into the great outdoors. Mimic the look of countryside fields and parks by choosing to decorate the room in certain colour schemes. Start with the walls for this, painting them in blue shades to represent sunny skies. If you’re feeling creative enough, try your hand at painting some DIY clouds, or look for a sky print wallpaper for an easier option. For the floor, you could either paint wooden floors or fit a green carpet, or include a large green fluffy rug for a more subtle, less permanent change.

Pitch the tent

One of the charms of music festivals is camping out in a tent, so make sure you bring this detail into the decor of the room. Instead of a regular single bed, opt for a children’s tent bed which will spark your little one’s imagination and perfectly bring the theme together. Another way to do this could be to place a tent style canopy above your child’s existing bed, easily giving it a festival worthy feel.

 Let the sunlight in

Since festivals are held outdoors, you need to reflect this as much as possible in your child’s room. Ensure enough light is being let in through windows. This might mean getting rid of curtains and blinds, or using a much thinner, sheerer blind that will let daylight through but still keep a level of privacy.

Add some finishing touches

Now that the majority of the room’s decor is sorted, it’s time to add some final festival themed details. Look for textiles in bohemian patterns to decorate your child’s bed or turn into wall hangings. Lanterns, fairy lights and light up signs all deserve a place in the space and are so easy to find or create yourself. Bring the theme together with some camping style chairs or any other bits and bobs you can get your hands on, and there you have it – your child’s very own festival experience from the comfort of their home!
