With the release of Jamie Moore on the 1st of July, our VIVAEms went down to train with the man himself.

Jamie’s book was an idea he had been toying with after all the amazing stories he wanted to tell, for boxing fanatics and his kids and grandkids to read, however 2 years ago Jamie faced a horrific incident in Marbella which left him for dead. A year after the incident Jamie started thinking about writing his book again. Once the dust had settled from his traumatic accident which affected not just himself but his family as well, Paul Zanon triggered the idea into his head after asking for someone’s number leading to Jamie wanting Paul to write his book.

With Jamie’s incident there was a lot of speculation in the papers about what had actually happened so for Jamie it was a great way to set his story straight and he treated it like therapy especially with Paul pushing him about he felt with questions such as “Can you remember any smells? Your surroundings? What was the temperature like? What could you see from laying on the ground?” When he spoke about Paul pushing him he said “I think him pushing me on it and having to think differently it’s helped me in the long run it was like therapy.”

The highlight of the book which James picked out alongside Paul when getting towards the end of writing the book, was that every single time James had a setback he always came back better from it, he loved boxing but it was a job for him, but Paul highlighted that in Jamie’s’ life he refuses to be contained or kept down which is quite a good thing for a boxer. It may not be Jamie’s’ highlight but the big story in his book is the incident in Marbella because everyone is intrigued about what happened, we definitely are! Even so, Jamie said “the sort of flow of the book and the real story will be one of never give up cause that’s the way I was, no matter how many times I had set backs even to this stage now in my life I’m passed my boxing career, that sort of mindsight could have really gone from me but it hasn’t, I’m still mentally the same person and I still refuse to be kept down and I’m glad.

Reading through Jamie’s book, you’re not just going to find out his boxing career and his incident, you’re going to find out about him growing up, being a teenager, and getting into trouble. Jamie is the typical boxer from a council estate growing up and turning his life around. In his book there are some dramatic stuff, he even said to his wife that he couldn’t believe his kids were going to read some of the stuff he had done because he was embarrassed by it. Jamie said “I’m proud of the person I’ve become but not what I’ve done in the past.

After our VIVAEms spoke to Jamie, he put her through her paces with a little bit of boxing technique, being pushed boxing wise and some cardio exercise which boxing professional use to enhance the toughness of training.

Speaking of the boxing session Ems said “It was so good to be back in the ring I forgot how much I loved it from when I trained as a boxer for my fight with Formal Fight Club over 2 years ago.

Jamie is a top trainer he pushes you hard, he doesn’t take any shit but makes it fun. It really is, I believe, one of the best forms of exercise for you physically and mentally.
