In July 1990 Kill Your Television shot straight to #1 in the Indie singles chart and sent Ned’s Atomic Dustbin on a collision course with the pop charts. Being their ‘cross-over’ single, Kill Your Television the song, the slogan, the t-shirt and the ‘get off your backside and do something’ sentiment still stand as the deepest footprint that the band have left on the indie rock planet and 25 years later the band (all 5 original members) are looking to cement the legacy with their annual Kill Your Television Festival. The band is taking the festival on the road to another favourite venue of theirs – Manchester Academy.

Following on from the previous revelation that Ferocious Dog will join their hosts Ned’s Atomic Dustbin at the Manchester Academy for this year’s newly relocated KYTV Festival 2016. Today they revealed the very special guests cordially invited to the occasion for your listening pleasure.

Rising to fame immediately with the pumped-up power pop of ‘Unbelievable’, EMF’s debut single became an instant smash on both sides of the Atlantic and would provide the world with the ultimate sound track for the decade to come. Led by the exuberant frontman James Atkin, the Gloucestershire band marched on to produce a succession of super-charged albums throughout the 90s including their rock-rave clarion call ‘Schubert Dip’ in 1991. Now, in 2016, the original Epsom Mad Funkers find themselves re-united and re-energized and will be heading up North to join their long-time contemporaries the Neds for a trail blazing set at the second annual KYTV Festival 2016.

Keen to establish KYTV Festival as their very own annual self-curated inimitable indie-rock celebration, the Neds are adamant to boast an unusual bill with more than the occasional surprise package. This year’s show in Manchester will be no exception, and joining our Ned-liners are none other than Ferocious Dog. A full-on six-piece that encompass folk infused with rock, reggae and Celtic vibrations this band offer up a mighty live offering. In 2015, the band sold out Rock City in Nottingham in advance – a historic moment with it being the first time in the 35-year history of this auspicious venue that an unsigned band has achieved this feat.  ??We are also delighted to reveal that the special guest DJ in residence for the occasion will be none other than DJ MILF. As a long time collaborator of our very special guests EMF, DJ MILF is an assured pair of hands to be in when it comes to getting the party started and on 29th October, he will be honouring us with plenty of crate-digging cunning that’ll be sure to keep us grooving all night long.
