The Liquor Store launches a new range of boozy cocktails and you could be in with a chance of trying them all for free!

The super cool late-night bar The Liquor Store has revamped its cocktail menu, so you can sip away in the summer sun from the entirely new range of boozy concoctions.

The neatly presented album of cocktail classics sees the best mixologist in Manchester – Biggsy – creating twists on well-loved drinks that have been influenced by musical genres, which means you can drink your way through the decades and dance the night away after. *Insert responsible drinking disclosure here*.

We were invited to an exclusive tasting of the new cocktails and you too could be in with a chance of trying them all for free. T&C’s apply though.

The experience started with something from the Seventies section of the menu.

The Escape is a take on a traditional Pina Colada. *Sings* “Do you like Pina Colada?”

This long drink includes Koko Kanu cream, pineapple and banana which makes it much creamier and lighter than the original where it gets its name from. Biggsy’s version has a tropical taste that packs a punch.

The drink brightens up your life when you’re caught in the rain which, let’s face it, happens a lot in Manchester?!

It was then on to the Eighties, where I had high expectations given that this is the decade I was born. I was looking forward to Biggsy’s interpretation of a classic, hoping that nostalgic childhood memories would come flooding back after one sip.

Purple Rain is the name of the drink from this era and is a tribute to both music and cocktail royalty. This Ramos twist features a rum called Plantation, mixed with lychee and Vimto raindrops. The cocktail is shaken with egg whites to give it its very own purple Afro. Sweet.

The Nineties section of the album meant that we had to try the Firestarter. Spiced rum is mixed with pineapple, mango and spiced lime which is then torched with Goslings 151 to create a zingy citrus taste. This drink is definitely a trouble-starter.

A cocktail from the Noughties section of the album brings fluorescent colours and sharp tastes. The Fluorescent Adolescent cocktail comes with glow sticks, I kid you not. It’s made up of Beefeater gin, shaken with apple, blue curaco, lychee, bubble gum syrup and topped with Ting.  There’s a strong bubble gum flavour to this one and it’s bright blue?!

No great menu, or playlist is complete without the Greatest Hits.

We tried what is described as the Queen of Pop, the Material Girl. Beefeater gin is mixed with passionfruit, lychee and then topped up with prosecco and decorated with edible flowers.  It’s easy to drink and very refreshing.

You can try these cocktails for free at the Liquor Store’s Mega Summer party on 12th July. Head over to Instagram and share their artwork from the album to be in with a chance of getting on the guestlist for the night, or you could be cheeky and request to be on their guestlist via the event on Facebook here.
