Love 4 Music Festival Brings Soul, Funk and Reggae to Huddersfield

Rachel Birtwistle | 28th February 2018

North England’s first ever soul, funk and reggae festival Love 4 Music is coming to Huddersfield on Sunday 27 May 2018

Hosted by DJ Chris Goldfinger, Love 4 Music’s line-up features a whole host of soul and reggae artists. Alexander O’Neil, Aswad, Omar, Gwen Dickey (Rose Royce), Janet Kay, Gappy Ranks, Carl Mcintosh (Loose Ends) and Carroll Thompson will all be appearing at the event, making the festival a day to remember.

Alongside this amazing line up, festival-goers can expect a family-friendly environment with memorabilia and ethnic artefact stalls. Plenty of world food and drink vendors will also be available at the event.

In the face of under-representation of soul, funk and reggae in the North of England, Love 4 Music Festival promises to bring a great day of music and entertainment to fans of the genres.

The organisers of the event hope to bring together “a wide group of different cultures” to enjoy a great day out, with no boundaries of race or religion.

Janet Kay, who will be performing at Love 4 Music, is best known for her 1979 hit “Silly Games“. She made history as the first British black female reggae artist to reach the top of the British charts.

A festival for soul and reggae music is a great event for the UK. Nostalgia is a wonderful thing taking

people back to the music they grew up with and still love today. Great music lasts forever – Janet Kay

British reggae group Aswad will appear at the festival in May.

As one of RnB’s most iconic names, Alexander O’Neal’s performance will undoubtedly include some of his biggest hits. His 1980’s chart smash “Criticize” is a definite fan favourite.  He commented on what fans can expect from the festival:

I’m delighted to be performing at the first Love4Music Festival which promises to deliver great music and a party atmosphere for knowledgeable music fans! – Alexander O’Neal
