Lychee, YOWL, Pijn, Suzi Wu, Wolf Girl and Pip Blom at Sounds From the Other City

Salford’s biggest, weirdest bank holiday Sunday celebration of arts and culture is back for 2018.

Sounds from The Other City have announced their first wave of artists for the one-day festival set to take over Chapel Street on Sunday 6 May.

With promoters including Now Wave, Hey! Manchester, Grey Lantern, Fat Out, Bad Uncle and Comfortable on a Tightrope all returning to contribute acts to the DIY festival, it is set to be another fun filled, crazy and unique day out.

The eclectic line-up includes Mancunian 8-piece hip hop collective Lychee (featuring Blind MIC of Free Wize Men, Layfulstop and other Manchester mainstays), emo-punk revivalists YOWL, hotly tipped Manchester metalheads Pijn, alt-rocker Suzi Wu, girl-punks Wolf Girl and Pip Blom and a whole host of other emerging talents set for big things.

Previous line-ups have included Mercury Prize nominee Sampha, Goat Girl, Sleazy F, Black Josh, Martha, The Lovely Eggs and BBC’s Sound of 2018 third place artist, IAMDDB.

Sounds is a unique opportunity to see a tonne of hotly tipped names from some of the best tastemakers around in intimate settings and a friendly atmosphere. Given that half the venues are Salford pubs, the price of a pint isn’t outrageous, either.

Newcomers Strange Days, Band on the Wall, Regal Disco, Thirsty Girls Collective, Bound Art Fair and The Invisible Wind Factory also help sponsor the day.

Venues include The Old Pint Pot, The Kings Arms, St Philip’s Church, The Angel Centre Regent Trading Estate, Egerton Arms, The School of Electronic Music and new locations Five Four Studio & Hot Bed Press.

Tickets are available online here or from Piccadilly Records on Oldham Street.
