What are you doing on Sunday 29th May? From midday until 2am? Will you be heading over to The Pen and Pencil for their Bank Holiday Beach Party? You should!

If that’s not enticing you, how about free Jager if you arrive in beach-themed fancy dress. With a special rum punch being served for just £5 and beach inflatables, ice pops and a lot of summer spirit, why would you stay at home, especially when the event is free?
Not a drinking fan but love your food? Or need to soak up your hangover? On Saturday 28th May 10am-2pm, The Pen and Pencil are offering a Bottomless Brunch for £35 per person.
Taking its inspiration from Manhattan’s 1950’s steakhouses, brunch at The Pen and Pencil is not only big, but also occasionally bottomless! On the last Saturday of every month, from 10am-2pm, the restaurant is offering a special ‘bottomless brunch’ deal. Brunch lovers can choose from a delicious range of breakfast dishes on the menu including: the Pen and Pencil burger, the American Breakfast, Steak and Eggs, Avocado and Feta, Eggs Pen and Pencil, Veggie breakfast, the Reuben sandwich or American Pancakes with berries. As if that wasn’t good enough, it’s not just the food that’s free flowing: selected drinks are also included in the offer. Guests can choose from brunch classics like the Aylesbury Duck Bloody Mary and a Mimosa or branch out with a brunch cocktail special, an Amstel or a glass of Sant’Orsola Prosecco. Whatever they choose, there’s always more if they want it! Capacity is strictly limited and pre-booking is required. Guests are advised to book in advance to avoid missing out. Manchester masterminds are invited to test their knowledge at The Pen and Pencil’s weekly quiz night, hosted by local quizmaster John Stansfield. Enter for just £1 to take part, with the winning team taking all the money.The bar will also offer a round of beers for the best team name. Guests can enjoy a selection of the bar’s delicious New York inspired cocktails and a quality range of beers and ales to relax their minds as they put their brains to the test. The quiz consists of 4 rounds including: film and TV, general knowledge, music and a special ‘wildcard’ round. Each week the losing team chooses the wildcard round for the following week (from a list of options). A much better alternative to sitting at home.
The Pen and Pencil has cherry-picked an eclectic range of some the best DJs and live music acts in Manchester to entertain guests every Thursday – Saturday from 8pm-2am.
Friday 20th May – Duncan Wallis
Swapping vocals for vinyls, Duncan Wallis steps away from his usual spot in front of the mic with the ‘Dutch Uncles’ and goes it alone as he takes on the decks. Expect a mix of some new wave, indie and alternative tunes that are perfect for winding up for the weekend.
Saturday 21st May – Disco Mums
Disco Mums are an all female Manchester based DJ collective of seasoned clubbers turned mothers. Expect to hear anything from soul, house, techno, disco, boogie, reggae, italo-pop… no barriers, no restrictions, just proper good times. Why not have a quick listen to their Soundcloud?
Friday 27th May – Will Tramp
Manchester folk seeking quality sounds to welcome in the weekend need look no further than The Pen and Pencil. Expect a mix of boogie, disco, house, techno, balearic, garage, hip hop, electrofunk and basement from guest DJ Will Tramp. Check out his Soundcloud.
Saturday 28th May – Dan Wainwright
DJ Dan Wainwright will be mixing up some smashing tunes to get the Saturday groove going in the Northern Quarter. Expect a mix of house, disco, soul and psychedelic vibes ’til 2am. Give him a listen on Soundcloud.
