Manchester’s finest flock to Canal Street for Launch of Mr White’s English Chophouse

SAM | 15th June 2018

Manchester’s finest flocked to Canal Street this week for the exclusive summer launch party of Marco Pierre White’s new restaurant in the city, Mr White’s English Chophouse.

Drawing foodies and famous faces, the special event, hosted by the renowned Velvet Hotel – where Mr White’s English Chophouse is located, gave guests the chance to sample some of Marco’s signature Chophouse dishes in canape sized portions.

Visitors were also invited to relax in the Velvet Hotel’s newly refurbished interior, including its sumptuously decorated Velvet Bar, where a series of Veuve Clicquot from Moet champagne and Manchester Gin cocktails were served up for them to enjoy.

The welcome was provided by the sassiest trio in Manchester, Girls That Mix, led by DJ Emma Wilkinson who performed live saxophone grooves and percussion beats on the street for guests to enjoy on arrival. Entertainment also came in the form of Salford swing singer Alexander Stewart, as well as successful Manchester DJ, Jamie Bull, who were both on hand to provide a lively sound-track for the occasion.

Mr White’s English Chophouse officially opened its doors last month, with a menu created by Marco Pierre White himself, featuring quality succulent steaks, chops and grills.

The Manchester venue is the latest in Marco Pierre White’s new Chophouse brand. As part of the Velvet Hotel and Bar proposition, it offers hotel guests and restaurant clientele a range of new dishes that combine the traditional with the contemporary, and English classics with French flair, all made with the best ingredients.

Kim Eivind Krohn, owner of KRO Hospitality, the proprietor of Velvet Hotel, said: “We rolled out the red carpet in the heart of Canal Street to celebrate and showcase the fantastic dining and luxurious surroundings on offer at Mr White’s English Chophouse and the Velvet Hotel and Bar. It was a wonderful evening, with an excellent turn-out and we hope that many more people will now come to enjoy our venue and sample the amazing dishes featuring on Marco’s menu.”

The site of Mr White’s English Chophouse was previously known as the Velvet Restaurant and has been welcoming diners since 1996 to enjoy breakfast, brunch, lunch and a la carte dining. It was joined by the Velvet Bar in 2005.

The venue is completed by the chic boutique Velvet Hotel, opened in 2009, which offers 19 rooms all decorated with unique dramatic flourishes and great flair.
