Mancs Abroad – New Study Reveals The Average British Holiday For Modern Mancunians

SAM | 2nd June 2016

Courses-with-study-abroadModern Mancunians will consume 53 alcoholic drinks, have four rows, pick up four local phrases – and moan about being “too hot” EIGHT times – on an average fortnight holiday abroad.

Researchers* polled almost 2,000 British holidaymakers and revealed the highs and lows of a modern-day sunshine break.

The study commissioned by affordable car hire booking firm autoeurope.co.uk – revealed we will spend an average of £1,711 including everything from flights, accommodation and spending money – as well as fly a whopping 2,065 miles to reach the perfect destination.

We will also finish two books, and get half way through a third, as well as spend 2.5 hours glued to our mobile phones, iPads or laptops every day – a staggering 35 hours during the entire holiday.

A further 1.5 hours a day will be spent checking and updating social media including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Almost a third of Mancunians (30 percent) sunbathe for 3 hours on average – and the study shows we will get lost and have to ask for directions a further three times during the fortnight.

And when it comes to getting intimate, a third (33 percent) say they usually see “some passion” on holiday – however a forlorn 25 percent said they “never get intimate”.

But a frisky 6% percent said they “couldn’t count” the number of intimate moments they have on an average holiday as there were just too many.

A spokesperson for Autoeurope.co.uk said: “Our survey has uncovered some really interesting insights into the way holidaymakers from Manchester now spend time on holiday.

“With the rise in popularity of documenting experiences via social media, it comes as no shock that we now spend so long online on our holiday.

“However, we were surprised to see from the research that Mancunians have four bust-ups on average with partners or family members.

“One thing that can reduce stress and arguments on holiday is great value for money. Autoeurope.co.uk can’t help you secure the perfect sun lounger, but we can offer a fantastic car hire service at great prices.”

The study also revealed the extent to which calorie counting goes out of the window while we’re abroad.

According to the data almost a third (32 percent) don’t bother keeping an eye on what they eat at all.

And more than one in four (26%) plough through 500 calories a day MORE than they would at home.
