Our Favourite Things About Manchester

From marvellous musicians to epic TV shows, Manchester has produced some incredible talent over the years that has been appreciated all over the world- from Oasis, The Smiths and The Stone Roses to Coronation Street, Cold Feet and Waterloo Road.

There has also been a host of acting talent, such as Suranne Jones, Joanne Whalley, Steve Coogan, David Threlfall and more.  Manchester is oozing with talent, but it’s not just about the amazing famous people, but more so about the every-day folk who make this city so great!

There is nothing more fun than a night out in the city of Manchester, whether you are planning a delicious meal out at one of the incredible restaurants, a pub crawl checking out the bar scene, or (for those who like to party), an unbeatable night out in one of Manchester’s nightclubs! Whilst the days of the formidable Hacienda may be long gone, there are some incredible clubs to dance the night away in!

Manchester boasts the fastest growing food and drinks scene in the country, with a constant stream of new bars and eateries popping up in the city. For delicious Chinese food, look no further than Tattu Restaurant and Bar. For some of the finest steaks in the city, Hawksmoor in Deansgate is the place to be. If you are looking to combine fine dining and cocktails in a sumptuous setting, then Manchester House should definitely be on your radar!

For a fun night out in our great city, why not round up your mates for a luxury evening at one of the cities casinos? You can enjoy a delicious meal, have a few drinks and enjoy learning new skills that could reap you many rewards. Why not stay one step ahead of the game by reading up on the do’s and don’ts of the casino?!

If a day of culture is more your thing, then you should check out some of the galleries and museums. For instance, did you know that our very own Whitworth gallery has been voted the best art gallery in the UK?

As soon as you speak to someone not from Manchester and you tell them where you are from, we guarantee the first thing they will ask you will be, ‘United or City?’ Whichever one of our great clubs you support, you must admit that having two incredible clubs in one city is impressive stuff!

Not into football? Manchester is home to one of the most prolific cricket grounds, where many have been entertained by the great game over the years.

Or if sports isn’t your thing, then it is a good job that Manchester is renowned for its fantastic shopping scene, where you can enjoy finding cool one-off vintage items and designer shoes, in addition to quirky home accessories and more.

There has never been a better time to celebrate all that the wonderful city of Manchester has to offer, from our brilliant universities to our perfect pints. As singer and Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown once famously said, ‘We have got everything, except a beach’, which is pretty true (although the bright lights of Blackpoll are not that far away!). It is easy to see why Manchester has been voted one of the most livable places in the country on more than one occasion, and we are proud to live in this wonderful city!
