Aintree Racecourse was in high spirits last night as chart topping sensation, Jess Glynne took to the stage for one of this years Jockey Club Live Summer shows.

The Brit Award nominee certainly didn’t disappoint the eagerly awaited fans, as she wowed the crowd with an evening of smash hits.

Glynne first shot to fame when she featured on Clean Bandit’s Grammy Award winning single ‘Rather Be’ and Route 94’s ‘My Love’, both of which reached number one in the UK charts back in 2014. Since then the singer has rightfully earned her place in music history, as she’s one of only two British female solo artists to have five consecutive UK number one singles.

Last night, it didn’t take much for the award-winning singer to get everyone going, as she greeted the crowd, “how we doing? We feeling good? Are you guys ready to get down with my band?” She then kicked off the show with one of her smash hits, ‘Right Here’ which undoubtedly got everyone in the party spirit.

Donning a bright blue metallic suit (something that we wouldn’t be able to pull off in a million years), Glynne looked like a blue shimmering goddess on stage. Although she kept her signature red locks under wraps, as she wore a black baseball cap, she still managed to look a million dollars. Glynne then broke into her first ever UK number one hit ‘Rather Be’, which continued the party atmosphere.

With her laidback performance style, the singer seemed effortless on stage and yet still had the audience in the palm of her hand.

The entirety of last night’s concert certainly had a theme of love running throughout. From the backdrops on stage, to her song choices, even the huge hooped earrings that Glynne was wearing had ‘LOVE ME’ written on them. It’s clear that the message the singer wanted to portray was a night of love and togetherness, as she gave an emotional speech about the fire in London this week, and also mentioned the recent terror attacks across the country.

“There’s a lot of stuff going on at the moment that scares people, but coming to a show like this I don’t want you to be scared, I want you to be happy and free when you come to one of my shows.

“The tragedies in London this week has made the country come together like anything I could ever imagine.

“All I can say is love and togetherness is so important, that’s what this next song is all about, and I want to sing it for all those people that are going through something we could never imagine. I want you to sing this out with me”. The singer then broke out into an emotional acoustic version of her hit song, ‘Real Love.’

The entire concert may have exuded a party atmosphere – amongst a multigenerational audience, but for this one song the crowd seemed to stand in unison and recollected about how grateful we all are, and how we’re stronger together.

The award-winning singer then picked up the atmosphere again with a dedicated segment of the show to introducing each member of her equally talented band, by giving them their own time in the spotlight.

It’s clear that every member of Glynne’s eight-piece band and three backing singers, enjoy what they do. As throughout the entire show, Glynne has them front and center, joining in with the choreographed parts of each song, and it was surprising to see how unbelievably in sync they all were with one another.

Overall, in VIVA’s eyes, Glynne certainly left the best song for last, as she ensured that the crowd went home in high spirits, closing the show with an unforgettable encore performance of, ‘Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself’.

There was definitely ‘no place we’d rather have been.’
