Review: The Lowry Hotel

Viva was recently invited for an over night stay at the Lowry hotel, in the heart of Manchester city center. The Lowry hotel was the first 5 star named hotel in Manchester and one of only 20 hotels in the UK to be part of the Leading hotels of the world. They have 165 bedrooms including six suites and a presidential suite.

We got to stay in one of their superior rooms, padded out with a walk in wardrobe, flat screen TV, and a reading corner. One of the first things that you see upon entering the room, is the incredible lighting from their ceiling to floor length window wall. Sadly, there wasn’t an amazing view to go with it, due to building work going on, nevertheless, it created a natural vibe to the room and was quite breathtaking.

Positioned next to the windows was a vibrant but comfortable reading chair where you could relax, lie back and fly away to your favorite novel. I think this was a lovely addition to the room as it really urged you to sit back and relax.

However, possibly my favorite thing about the hotel was the electric curtains. Whilst a less important feature of the room, having to only press a button to close and open the giant curtains was certainly a quirky bonus.

The bathroom was a generous size, with a bath/shower included, so you could choose your preference. Across from this was a nice sized walk-in-wardrobe that had an abundance of room for clothes. Along with this was the necessary amenities such as a safe, kettle and mini bar.

I also appreciated the convenient River Restaurant situated on the second floor, which offers a modern British menu. They also have the River Bar which served a range of drinks and had a balcony with a view. But if food and drink are not what you are after then maybe their library or The QMS Skin Spa in the hotel is something you would be interested in. Again a brilliant addition to have in a hotel.

The staff were warm and welcoming and for a night I felt like royalty. So if you are looking for an upscale hotel to stay in for the night, then I would highly recommend the Lowy hotel.
