The Haunting of Blaine Manor is resurrected this Halloween…

Matthew Lanceley | 27th October 2017

The Haunting of Blaine Manor will be one of the Halloween highlights at the King’s Arms in Salford this weekend.

After a successful sold out run last year, The Haunting of Blaine Manor will be at The King’s Arms on Saturday 28 October at 7.30pm and Stage Fright: A Day of Theatrical Horror 12noon-10pm on Sunday 29 October before going to Hermon Chapel Arts Theatre  in Oswestry (31 October- 2 November) and the annual London Horror Festival on 4 November.

Reviewers have called it a “ghost story with a cinematic quality”, a “total surprise”, and “in no way “medium”; it was top notch”.

Director, writer, and actor Joe O’Byrne had previously been writing his Tales from Paradise Heights series but wanted something different.

He said: “I wanted to write something removed from today’s dangerously real world of Paradise Heights… I wanted to go a little further”. Go a little further, he certainly did, creating The Haunting of Blaine Manor to inspire and disturb audiences all over the country.

The show features the stellar talents of Jo Haydock, Peter Slater, Andrew Yates, Dan Thackeray, Joe O’Byrne himself and this time Studio Salford Best Actor Award Winner Phil Dennison joins the cast taking over from Ian Curley.

Set in England in 1953, The Haunting of Blaine Manor follows fictional renowned American parapsychologist Doctor Roy Earle, famous for discrediting hauntings and exposing fake mediums, as he is invited to attend a seance in what is believed to be the most haunted building in England, the eponymous Blaine Manor.

Also featuring in Stage Fright: A Day of Theatrical Horror at the King’s Arms on Sunday is The Dead Live written by Daniel Thackeray. In that play, Lawrence Dodds is a popular ‘psychic’ medium, who knows he’s a fake. But the spirit world may have some surprises in store for him when someone unexpected attends one of his live shows. This performance will be filmed live and audience members will be required to give their consent to their image appearing in the film.

The Haunting of Blaine Manor has an ongoing IndieGoGo campaign, to raise money to assist with the running of the tour. For tickets and further information, visit the official website and FaceBook page.
