THE TWO EMS MEET SIGMA (AGAIN) AND HAVE WAY TOO MUCH FUN – (VIVAEms and Chadders review Sigma at the 02 Ritz)

The last time we met Sigma was at Pikes in Ibiza when VIVAEms was wrapped in a curtain (no, no one knows why), after we’d seen them play a stonking gig at Ibiza Rocks. So with a lush tea and a few fizzes under our belts from Urban Cookhouse, we couldn’t wait to stumble to the 02 Ritz to see the boy wonders who have rocked the charts perform their second gig of their new UK tour.

The Ritz is a charming, intimate venue to see them wow on their home turf, well home turf for Cameron, one part of the dynamic duo, and a packed crowd were giving it they’re all as they stormed it, packing in tune after tune, but more of that later.

We managed to wrangle a few words of wisdom as we enjoyed a sherry with Sigma following the gig and reminded them how we ‘partied’ together at Pikes – Freddie Mercury’s old villa and legendary fun palace in Ibiza where Wham filmed their ‘Club Tropicana’ video.

Sadly, they didn’t actually remember, that as the lovely pony-tailed Joe had retired early that night but he did tell us that our VIVA readers should live their lives to the full and that he loved Manchester. Manchester loves you Joe.

We also managed to capture an exclusive video with Cameron, which answered the burning question of what shoes he likes.

Apparently ‘what’s your favourite footwear’ is VIVAEms’ ‘go to’ question when she’s put on the spot. She has been admonished and her new go to Q is ‘what do you think of Manchester’ as that is likely to be a tad more relevant.

Now back to the gig…

Like fellow drum n base band Rudimental, Sigma don’t mess about when it comes to their live shows, there was no warm up period, it was straight into ‘Higher’ featuring Labrinth although sadly he wasn’t there but the guy on vocal’s (sorry we are not sure what his name is) was just as good, plus the smoke guns being fired off certainly caught the crowds attention.

Playing more or less all their hits on the new album ‘Life’ from ‘Good Times’ to ‘Coming Home’ the new single ‘Redemption’ and the classic favourite ‘Nobody To Love’ as well as a striped down acoustic version of ‘Feels Like Home’. The Sigma boys ended Cameron’s home coming gig on ‘Changing’ whilst waving the Sigma flag at the excitable sold out Ritz crowd.

The two Ems then decided it would be a good idea to meet up with Urban Cookhouse’s Tim Coulston and his sidekick Luca at the Liquor Store, Crazy Pedro’s and then Liars Club. All we’re saying is that Crazy Pedro’s aren’t that crazy, they evicted VIVAEms for trying to dance on the table – more like ‘You Can Be A Bit Silly but Not Too Much’ Pedro’s.

And that’s all we’re saying about the rest of the evening.

Sigma will next be stepping foot in Manchester at Parklife on June 11th, for full line up of Parklife click here.
