Time to get glittery and groovy for the Girl Gang Manchester Galantine’s Disco
| 2nd February 2018
Following the massive success of last year’s Galantine’s Disco, Girl Gang Manchester is bringing the event back and this year it promises to be even more glittery with even more girl power.
Galantine’s Day is a nonofficial holiday which takes place on the 13th February where girls are encouraged to celebrate their female friendships and the wonderful women in your life.
Championing female friendship is what epitomises the work of Girl Gang Manchester which is why on the 10th February the gang will be hosting a Galantine’s Disco at their favourite venue in town, Texture Manchester.
Kirsty Morrissesy, one of Girl Gang Manchester’s primary producers, promises girl bands, glitter and general ‘girl power vibes’ at the Disco.
Kirsty said: “We love collaborating with talented women and providing a platform for people who are doing good things.” Which is why the disco is in collaboration with The Thirsty Girls collective, a group of female and nonbinary DJ’s who work to celebrate women in music.
The Thirsty Girls will be playing funky tunes by girl bands and women from all different genres of music.
Last year’s Galantine’s Disco included choreographed dance routines, chocolate, music videos and a cupid spreading notes of positive vibes around the room. No doubt that this year will have more fun and unique features to get people into the Galentine’s spirit. This year’s event will also feature “Heart Break Happy Hour” where those on a Valentine’s detox can angst along to break up anthems and knock back cheaper Galentine’s Day themed cocktails from 9.30 til 10.30pm.
Kirsty said: “All of our events have a lot of glitter but this will be the glitteriest” so whether you are in a relationship, seeking an escape from romance, or out with the girls the Galantine’s Disco seems like a perfect place to spend your Saturday night.
If you want to join in the girl power movement and spend your Galantine’s dancing with pals, and screaming lyrics into the faces of strangers whilst covered in glitter, then you can buy tickets for the event here. Tickets are cheaper in advance and last year’s event was a sell out, so don’t hang about!
Girl Gang Manchester’s other upcoming events include a clothes swap on the 24th February with Vulva le Revolution to raise money for Manchester Action on Street Health. Read more about MASH here. At the clothes swap attendees can swap clothes, receive style advice and jazz them up at their customisation station whilst raising money for a great cause. Also keep an eye out for their Mother’s Day Disco on March 11th which promises “a cross generational dance floor revolution”, also at Texture.
