Variety Is The Spice Of Life At Lytham Festival

Lytham Festival takes over the sleepy Lancashire seaside town next week with a stunning array of artists performing across multiple stages for seven days. The variety of music on offer means that no matter what your taste there is sure to be something that will peak your interest.

Headline acts in the Main Lytham Green Proms Arena will see the UK’s largest ever seaside screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on a 144sqm screen (Weds 3 Aug), Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds (Thurs 4), Mix Tape Night including The Village People, Bay City Rollers and Sister Sledge (Fri 5), Bryan Adams (Sat 6) and West End Proms featuring Collabro, Lea Salonga, Ramin Karimloo and many more (Sun 7).

But as well as the headline acts, Lytham will come alive with artists performing all over the town from Monday August 1.

Kicking off the week on Monday comedian Nina Conti performs a special one-night-only show at the Pavilion Stage before her 27-night run at the Edinburgh Festival, while over on Stage Too triple MOBO and double BRIT award winning R&B singer-songwriter Lemar arrives in town. The World Jazz Stage is also not to be forgotten with the jazz, funk and reggae sounds by the Off The Rails Big Band keeping toes tapping all night.

Tuesday 2 August sees country music duo The Shires take to the Pavilion Stage with their home grown brand of music. Stage Too plays host to X Factor and I’m A Celebrity heartthrob Jake Quickenden while competition winners the Soul Convicts perform at the World Jazz Stage with an invigorating fusion of brass, melodies and pop for all to enjoy.,

A punk rock double header is on the menu at the Pavilion Stage on Wednesday 3 August with all-girl band The Dolls and 90s Brit pop legends Space keeping the venue rocking all night. Over on Stage Too things are taking a decidedly indie turn on Wednesday 3 August when Leigh band The Lottery Winners bring their happy-go-lucky sound to Lytham, and Jeramiah Ferrari offer up some beautifully blended reggae, ska and punk beats on the World Jazz Stage.

X Factor winner and beloved singer-songwriter Matt Cardle performs on Thursday 4 August on the Pavilion Stage, while vocal harmony all boy quintet MiC Lowry perform their soulful harmonies at Stage Too. Down the road at the World Jazz Stage the nine-piece powerhouse that is the Bugalu Foundation will be bringing their soul fusion sound to Lytham, perfect for showing off your salsa moves.

Indie pop band Lawson take over the Pavilion Stage on Friday 5 August, fresh from releasing their new single Money back in March, the boys are excited to get back on the circuit. Stage Too sees Blackburn boy next door Nathan Grisdale bringing his self-penned tracks to Lytham, while on the World Jazz Stage, The Fire Beneath The Sea offer to ‘seriously improve your spiritual health’ with their hip-hop funk and soul style.

Saturday 6 August has Miles & Erica topping the bill at the Pavilion Stage with a variety of their own acoustic stylings and tracks from their time with The Wonderstuff, sure to thrill the most devoted of fans. If you’re looking for something a bit rockier you could do worse than rock-pop outfit Room 94 as they crash into Stage Too with their Blink 182 inspired sound. Failing that head to the World Jazz Stage to have a taste of some Irish folk inspired sessions with Drop The Floor.

Ending the week in fine style Sheffield synth poppers and 80s legends Heaven 17 bring their back catalogue to the Pavilion Stage while local lads Lupa Tom bring their humorous brand of folk storytelling to the World Jazz Stage.

Whatever you choose to go to you can be in no doubt that Lytham Festival offers the most eclectic selection of music you’re likely to find in the North West this summer – don’t miss it.
