Veganuary? It’s in the bag thanks to Haze

Jessica Ward | 9th January 2019

Sales of vegan bags have shot up by 67 per cent at urban streetwear brand Haze, as customers embrace Veganuary.

The Manchester-based fashion and accessories brand has completely sold out of seven of its 24 designs and customers are now on a waiting-list for when the bags come back into stock.

With prices starting at £54.99, the bags are the affordable alternative to those currently being produced by designer brands like Stella McCartney, whose own options retail at more than £400 a time.

Each bag in the Haze range is made from durable neoprene fabric instead of leather. All phone cases and purses are also made with cruelty-free materials.

Giving customers vegan fashion options has been at the heart of the Haze philosophy since it launched at the start of 2018.

“I’ve embraced veganism for 30 years now,” explains Haze owner Thomas Hayes. “Three decades ago it wasn’t always easy to follow a vegan diet let alone wear vegan clothes. Today, though, there’s no reason to wear leather. The way our sales of vegan bags have shot up already this year show that our customers agree.”

Haze’s range of vegan bags and accessories all have an Eastern theme to them and it was Thomas Hayes’ visits to this part of the world that originally interested him in the vegan lifestyle and philosophy of life in the first place.

The collection features pan-century Chinese designs and motifs and tactile look-twice details like mini dragon door knocker details that are cold to the touch, 4D Chinese talismans and embrodary.

The style of urban embroidery showcased on Haze’s products is similar to that currently being worn by icons such as rapper Skepta.

Haze’s orders for Vegan bags have come in from around the world, with particularly high numbers of orders coming from the UK, France, Germany and Spain.
