Imagine quirky original vintage jewellery, those your mum and nan had about 30 – 40 years ago. Each of them is different and some of them might even go into more modern times such as the 90’s. Like the sound of it? Great, because we found a brand, which delivers all the above. It’s called Victoria Vintage owned by the lovely Victoria Robinson-Ball.

Victoria’s love for vintage started in childhood, where she would spend her weekends going through her Nan’s tins with vintage jewellery, which she loved to put on feeling like a queen. Her parents also owned a company called Vintage and Revival Clothing selling 1930’s and 1940’s clothing and accessories at vintage fairs. ” I helped out a few times and loved dressing up in vintage clothing and selling to like minded people.”

The love for vintage lasted all the way through her teenage years and because she has always been fascinated with 50’s, in 2005 Victoria decided to set up her own brand called Victoria Vintage selling original vintage costume jewellery and clothing from 1950’s all the way to 80’s. She would be selling it at vintage fairs, festivals and also on eBay.

Throughout the years Victoria realised it’s jewellery what her true passion was so in 2010 she gave up clothing and  concentrated solely on vintage jewellery and selected accessories. Buying vintage jewellery was a skill that I was good at so hoping to pass that on, I decided to make Victoria Vintage a wholesale business to help people, like myself, set up stalls or shops and to make a living at something they loved as much as I did. With all the experience gained from travelling around the country for over 5 years, I understood what people liked but also how this could change from city to city. I also decided to stop travelling and to take all of my business online to the internet and to the world. I launched the website, retail and wholesale store.”

The brand offers vintage yet unusual pieces and Victoria, who does all the buying herself, makes sure that each piece is different. Some of the pieces might even come from later eras such the 90’s, although the pieces still need to be quirky enough.

Thanks to the wide selection and different designs Victoria Vintage has got to offer, the diversity of customers varies from teenage girls who spend their pocket money to have something different to the more mature woman, who might want something that will remind her of her mum or nan.

The brand is popular among celebrities too, with singer Lily Allen, model and actress Portia Victoria and singer, horror movies actress Eileen Daly, vintage singer Lola Lamour and famous DJ Lisa Lashes,  all have been seen wearing Victoria Vintage pieces.

If Victoria had the opportunity to choose a celebrity brand ambassador, then Angelina Jolie would be the first choice. “I’ve seen this woman up close at the 60th Cannes Film Festival and she is as stunning in real life as she is in all the magazines. She also has a lovely vintage look about her like Elizabeth Taylor did on the red carpets and let’s be honest she would make anything look good, how could you not want her?”

As the popularity of the brand has been growing since day one and with that demand for vintage items, Victoria has decided to extend her team, hiring another girl and her long time friend. “After seven years I took on a girl called Rosie Adams, who does all the photographs and has a huge talent there as well as running our EBay store and dealing with orders and shipping for our website. Diane Edwards, one of my best friends of 20 years joined me 3 years ago and is the Manager when I’m away. She is what we call our ‘Sue on Countdown’ as she can research almost anything to amazing detail. She writes up all the descriptions and sorts through the jewellery, once I bring it in. I call them the backbone of

BETTER ONE

Victoria hopes that the company will continue to grow, although she’s aware how hard it is to stay in business for anyone self-employed. She keeps searching for original vintage pieces and travels around the world to find them. She would love to expand her business to a hire service saying “I love the idea of myself helping more on photo shoots, TV or even film as I have a beautiful and very large personal collection that I’ve built up over 10 years with some outrageous vintage pieces. I couldn’t part with them but would love to see them being hired out and then seen in magazines and TV.”

The plans are huge for the brand and we are more than certain this is not the last time we are hearing about Victoria Vintage.
