VIVA Kids – Family Friendly Festival Guide 2017

PARENTS don’t think you have to hang up those festival wellies just yet! Dig out the tent and choose one of VIVA Kids and Family top five ‘family friendly’ festivals to attend.

Camp Bestival is jam-packed with entertainment, music and lashings of family fun.

 

Up first, is LATITUDE, previously voted Best Family Festival and Best Family Day Out, They really have nailed it for families, offering entertainment and activities for younger kids and something for the inbetweeners too, super important for those parents that have teens in tow.

It’s the ultimate pop festival held on the ground of the picturesque Henham Park, Suffolk. So far they have announced acts including The 1975, who will headline on the first night. Other artist include Goldfrapp, Mumford and Sons, Placebo and Fat Boy Slim. If you are looking for something a little closer to home, and need to build you family festival confidence that the Just So Festival may be just what you are looking for.

It’s set in the beautiful Rode Hall Estate in Scholar Green, Cheshire. And promises a wonderland of world class literature, arts, theatre, dance, music, comedy and creative pursuits. In its 8th year and voted best family festival in the UK get prepared for major pillow fights, hidden retreats, top notch food, drink and boutique camping.

Next, we have Deer Shed Festival 8, The family friendly music, arts and science festival set in beautiful North Yorkshire Parkland.

Deershed, let you know that they don’t have kid’s areas, the whole site is accessible to everyone, including your kids, so there are no worries that you will find yourself over in the pepper pig section whilst your loved one raves it up in the dance tent.

Another alternative and great for those on a budget is the welcoming Stainsby Festival, the intimate and family friendly event is held in large marquees on a greenfield site in the charming Derbyshire countryside. It’s a registered charity and a not-for-profit event run entirely by unpaid volunteers.

 

Stainsby offers: great folk and world music, crafts stalls, childrens entertainment, music workshops, a singers competition, storytelling, theatre, poetry, film, philosophy, with camping thrown in. And to cap it all there’s a real ale bar featuring locally sourced beers from breweries around Derbyshire.

And our final family friendly festival being given a VIVA Kids and Family high-five is Camp Bestival, the line-up is ridiculous with artist, Dizzy Rascal, Mark Ronson, Kate Nash, Louisa Johnson for the kids and for you there’s Madness, T’pau, All Saints, Leftfield and Right Said Fred plus many, many more.

 

And that’s not all, as well as the music, comedy and arts, Camp Bestival have devoted a whole space to the kids, with spaces suitable for mums and toddlers, little-uns, Upper Kids’ and The Den, an area dedicated to 13-17s. Activities include the likes of BigTopMania where you can learn a circus skill, a Bouncy Castle, bikes and go-carts.
