VIVA’S PICKS: Metropolitan Festivals

Sam Rooke | 24th April 2017

As summer is fast approaching, it is time to decide which festival is best for you. When you think of the word ‘festival’ it is normal to immediately picture muddy fields, with muddy wellies along with muddy people. Basically, just a lot of mud.

Well for those who are looking for the festival experience but without having to worry about the muddy camping then why not give a Metropolitan festival a go.

It is becoming an increasingly popular idea to attend festivals where you are still within walking distance from a warm clean pub.

There is now a selection of these particular types of festivals to choose from featuring a wide range of artists.

Dot to Dot

Sundara Karma

The festival is situated in three different Cities. Kicking off in Manchester on the 26th it will be moving onto Bristol on the 27th before finishing off in Nottingham on the 28th of May. After starting in 2005 the Metropolitan festival the festival has become increasingly popular and with past artists such as The 1975 and Foals it is not surprising why so many people now attend. This year Music from the bands Sundara Karma, Amber Run and The Growlers will be able to be heard around the Cities.

 Live at Leeds

The festival will be spaced out around Leeds City Centre at various music venues. With last year a mixture of artists will be joining Leeds this year from British Breakthrough Act Rag ‘n’ Bone Man to indie rock band The Hunna. The line up also includes Slaves and Nothing But Thieves and many more. Previous acts involved Rat Boy and Jess Glynne so the festival seems to provide a variety of artists for everyone to enjoy.

 Sound City

Catfish and the Bottlemen

Located in the centre of Liverpool at Liverpool Waters, Clarance Dock. The festival will be celebrating their 10th birthday this year and the line up this year will be sure to celebrate in style. With artists such as The Kooks, White Lies, Cabbage and newly popular singer Declan McKenna, the festival is not one to miss. In the past years acts such as Circa Waves and Catfish and the Bottlemen have preformed so it’s not a surprise that the festival is popular on the Indie scene.
