The whole beauty world is currently obsessing about a new eye lashes trend called Russian Volume Lashes. These extensions are not coming from Russian people (just in case you were about to ask). The reason they are called Russian lashes is thanks to a Russian lady who invented them. We were invited down to Sundays Beauty Clinic in Prestwich to find out for ourselves what is all this excitement about and whether it’s worth your time (the lashes application can take between 2-3 hours, so forget to getting them done on your lunch break).

When I walked in to the clinic, I had no idea what to expect. Knowing my lashes are super fine and pretty much invisible I didn’t have high expectations. The salon looked super stylish with really relaxed atmosphere. The beauty therapist (who was also specially trained for the Russian lashes) guided me to one of their treatment rooms where I was asked lie down on a bed. First, my face was being cleansed and my low lashes were taped to my skin so they don’t get in the way (this sounds very painful but it actually wasn’t). I was being explained the secret behind the volume of Russian lashes- the reason the lashes get so much volume is the fact, that  unlike other eye lash extensions where only single lashes are being applied, with this technique a bunch of 2-5 lashes being applied to every single lash meaning about 200-500 lashes being applied to each eye. They are curved, following your natural lash shape making the lashes look natural.

Before and After

Before and After

As mentioned earlier, the process is quite long, taking between 2-3 hours yet the therapist at Sundays couldn’t really do enough for me, she was making sure I was comfortable at all time. When I was finally allowed to open my eyes I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. My lashes were HUGE! For the first time ever I actually felt like I had some lashes. And they were beautiful.

At the end of the session the therapist went through the care sheet with me, explaining how I need to treat the lashes each week. The lashes will last for 3 to 4 weeks however you might need infills  every 2 weeks.
