Six Veganuary must-haves: Now that we are over the first dreaded few weeks of January, and life seems a little more routine, we have found ourselves focusing more on our new year’s resolutions (and praying that they last at least until the end of the month) which seems the socially acceptable norm.
As with many others out there, here at VIVA HQ we have vowed to become a little more eco-conscious this year. So, to kick off January we have researched some of this year’s best Veganuary must-haves to help those wanting to transition to a more vegan friendly lifestyle this year.
For those also participating in Dry January (myself included, but more so due to the fact I am currently 8 months pregnant!) there are some vegan friendly alcohol-free options available.
Personally, I am a big fan of the Mocktails Moscow Mule available in Selfridges (£9.99 for 4x200ml) at only 95 calories per bottle not only are they super refreshing and tasty, with notes of a lemon and ginger sour, but good for those wanting to shred some holiday pounds too!
If it’s the sharper taste of spirits you are missing, Mockingbird Agave (£23) is an alcohol-free tequila, the UK’s first Agave based tequila alternative made with all vegan ingredients to support both health and happiness. The perfect nightcap for a clarifying January.
For some vegan friendly snacks, Ten Acre crisps are vegan, gluten free and kosher. I am a sucker for the Cheese and Onion flavour, and I have to admit, you wouldn’t even notice they were vegan. You can buy Ten Acre crisps online and in most supermarkets.
If you have a bit of a sweet tooth, and are a little obsessed with cookie dough, like I am, then Doughlicious have an amazing range of snackable cookie dough. This cookie dough is indulgent and gluten free, vegan, high in fibre and surprisingly low in sugar, so you can treat yourself whilst staying firmly on the wagon.
It’s not just food and drink products that can come with a vegan seal of approval. For example, did you know that St Moritz are a vegan friendly brand of fake tan? Not only that but they have been developed by experts so that you get an even, natural glow with every application.
The beauty industry is becoming a lot more eco-conscious, especially within recent years. A recent study by Instagram reports that one of the major beauty trends for 2022 will see a boom in the clean beauty market, and we are totally here for it.
We have even managed to find a range of make-up brush cleaners which are vegan friendly, cruelty free, and actually work really well! Check out the Beauty Hygiene Plus Beauty Hygiene Essentials (£24.99) kit which provides everything you need to keep your makeup brushes, palettes, and beauty tools sparkling clean and germ-free. Beauty Hygiene are even accredited by PETA and The Vegan Society.
So, there you have it, a few products to help you on your way to becoming a fully-fledged vegan, even if it’s just for a couple of weeks or months.
Living a fully vegan lifestyle isn’t for everyone, (I have the upmost admiration for those that do) but if we can all make a few swaps to more sustainable and vegan friendly products in our everyday life, then going a little way forward is better than going nowhere at all.
