A wealth of musical talent perform at Neighbourhood Weekender

There’s certain weekends that stick with you, Neighbourhood Weekender was definitely one of these for me. The weekend was oozing amazing acts, a friendly crowd, and something very special. The festival returned to Victoria Park, Warrington for its second time for a Bank Holiday bonanza.

Starting early and eager, the Neighbourhood Inn was the first point for us. A ‘pub’ where quizzes, Karaoke and great bands and music was played. We were greeted with a perfect guide to how the day would pan out. You can really tell everyone is there for the music, to have a good time.

We headed to the main stage to catch the end of Embrace, the crowd had already started singing their hearts out. Saturday saw a fantastic lineup of acts such as, Tom Grennan, Maximo Park, You Me At Six & Primal Scream. But, as the night started to darken and George Ezra entered the stage, the crowd became euphoric.

With his own headline to a great weekend, George Ezra bounced up and down on the stage that was lit like red illuminated church windows. His top hits were blasted in his soulful, cool tone such as Don’t Matter Now, Hold My Girl and Paradise. An amazing moment seeing children on parents shoulders living the festival life and honest music fans enjoying themselves.

The night ended with an amazing display of fireworks surrounding the stage. As George and his fans sang Shotgun to complete a wonderful day and night.

Sunday saw festivalgoers flock back to Victoria Park for another day of music from some of the best acts around at the minute. The sun started cracking, meaning high spirits were in the air. Acts such as White Lies, Kate Nash and Mystery Jets warmed the stages up to what was an unbelievable night.

Gerry Cinnamon took to the stage and the uproar was unreal. A sea of fans on peoples shoulders, coloured smoke flares and cheers filled the venue.

The Charlatans and The Vaccines followed onto the main stage. It was an electrifying feeling with heartwarming crowds singing their hearts back to the artists.

The Charlatans front man Tim Burgess and his cool indie presence blasted out their ultimate tunes such as The Only One I Know and One To Another. The Vaccines then brought there rocking ambience to stage, where the crowd went mental along with songs such as Teenage Icon, Norgaard and Nightclub.

The headliner for Sunday was the legend, Richard Ashcroft. He took to stage with some of his solo work, where dedicated fans were struck with starry eyes from a Kings presence on stage.

After a long time coming, it was announced Rolling Stones had finally passed royalties for Bitter Sweet Symphony to Richard Ashcroft last week. He ended with the anthem of a lifetime, and bittersweet it was as the crowds rolled out still singing those legendary words.

2 days, 2 great lineups, it’s a festival we couldn’t recommend enough.
