ANTS /// WHP

Lydia Ransome | 1st November 2017

Ibiza wouldn’t be the same without Andrea Oliva’s event which first arrived on the white isle back in 2013. From the glitz and glam of the poolside euphoria which is Ushuaia to the iconic former bomb shelter that is Store Street under the streets of Manchester, once described as the spiritual home of WHP,  ANTS proves that wherever they go – Ibiza comes with them.

Cementing itself as one of the islands most iconic clubbing events and bringing the party home is something of a spiritual experience for some of us and ANTS WHP is considered a post-season Ibiza reunion event. The energy is something quite different from other Warehouse Project events and everyone seems just that little bit more in touch with the music, and each other.

Arriving into Store Street to the sound of ANTS veterans Eli & Fur, the duo took the reigns and served up a host of crowd-pleasing balearic beats, spanning across all sub-genres of house – exactly what an Ibizan-savvy crowd would want from the night. Around You had the crowd on their toes early on in the night.

Next up on the line-up is Berlin born legend Paul Kalkbrenner who, after Eli & Fur’s electic and gripping set, had quite a lot to live up to. Of course, Kalkbrenner has a few classics to drop that have the entire crowd back scarcely clothed in the scorching heat of Playa d’en Bossa.

A real definitive moment was when Kalkbrenner played Feed Your Head, sampling the classic White Rabbit.
