Christmas has come early for music fans as one-of-a-kind items from renowned artists, including Liam Gallagher, Rod Stewart, Nile Rodgers, Elbow, The Blossoms, The Pixies, The Courteeners, The Rolling Stones, and Arctic Monkeys go on auction for children’s cancer research charity, Kidscan.
Anyone can bid on these rare items via the online auction house Superstars, giving fans and collectors worldwide an opportunity to own a rare piece of musical memorabilia and all for a good cause.
Coveted lots include signed guitars from The Pixies, Slash, and Grammy-award-winning composer, Nile Rodgers. Nile’s secret weapon throughout his career has been his 1960 Fendehardtail Stratocaster, famously purchased from a Miami music shop. Fans now have a chance to own this authentic piece of music history by bidding on this iconic guitar signed by Nile Rodgers himself.
Also available is a signed Slash guitar which will be music to the ears of Guns’ n’ Roses fans worldwide. Gifted directly by Slash, this rare Epiphone Slash Les Paul Electric Guitar from the legendary Slash Collection is displayed with his signature in a red velvet-lined case.
Other musical items include exclusive clothing from Rod Stewart’s current tour wardrobe, a limited edition Oasis Knebworth box set, posters and signed artwork from Elbow, The Blossoms, and The Pixies. What’s more there’s a limited-edition Nixon x Rolling Stones watch designed to celebrate the band’s 60th anniversary, featuring the classic tongue logo.
Other fantastic opportunities to bid on includes signed merchandise and tickets to any Arctic Monkeys gig on their sold-out UK tour, two red carpet tickets to the PFA awards (including an invite to the player’s afterparty), the list goes on!
The Kidscan online auction will close at 8 pm on Thursday, December 1, at a prestigious event to celebrate 20 years of Kidscan.
Sponsored by co-production agency Vega. and hosted by Capital FM’s Nigel Clucas at Manchester’s historic Victoria Warehouse, 150 VIPs, including boxing star Anthony Crolla and model and influencer Zara Lena, can make closing bids on auction lots. Otherwise, prizes will go to the lucky highest online bidders. Tickets are still available for this exciting event, priced at just £70pp.
Kidscan hopes to raise £20,000 from the online auction, which will help improve existing children’s cancer treatments, develop new drug delivery systems, and find the next generation of targeted therapies. To date, the charity has invested over a million pounds in childhood cancer research at well-respected institutions across the UK.
Kidscan’s Head of Operations & Marketing, Kirsty Leigh, told VIVA: “We can’t wait to celebrate 20 years of Kidscan at our first charity ball, and we are so lucky to have such incredibly rare prizes to auction to raise funds.
“We are hoping to raise much-needed funds for pioneering cancer research projects specifically designed for children.
“It’s a real tragedy that after being treated for cancer, children suffer from life-long disabilities simply because not enough money is invested in finding better treatments.”
With a range of low-ticket items, the Kidscan charity auction has an auction lot to suit everyone’s tastes and pockets, such as the signed Oasis box set starting at just £75, which will make a nostalgic gift that keeps on giving.
If your Christmas wish is to see your dad rock around the Christmas tree in Rod Stewart’s tour outfit with Nile Rodgers’ guitar, then get your funds and bids ready, as the Kidscan Charity auction is a one-off chance to get your hands on these rare items.
