Originally founded in 2006 by Ben Gorham, the perfume brand BYREDO has gone from strength to strength. After the success of the pop-up store in Selfridges, London, they have expanded up north to Selfridges, Exchange Square, Manchester. When the VIVA girls visited we were welcomed to an array of luxury scents, inspired around memories.

The main product being showcased at the BYREDO counter was a hair perfume. If you are one of those girls (or guys) that spray perfume on your hair as well as your clothing, this is perfect for you! Initially launched in 2015 as a collection of 3 (Gypsy Water, Bal d’Afrique and Blanche), each hair perfume combines one of BYREDO’s signature scents with a unique silicone and polymer formula to create a light, invisible veil designed to leave the hair nourished and luminous whilst divinely scented. We could not recommend this product more as it leaves a long-lasting scent and avoids the oily textures of normal perfume.

The new hair perfumes include La Tulipe, Mojave Ghost and Flowerhead which will be available at BYREDO retailers and on Byredo.com £40 (75ml)

BYREDO Black Saffron hair perfume is available exclusively at Selfridges and on Byredo.com £40 (7
5ml)

As BYREDO are most known for their perfumes, they are also launching a new scent – Super Cedar. Each scent is carefully created and named in a unique, meaningful way. Cedar is without a doubt one of the scents that our nose recognizes most easily. Reminiscent of pencil shavings, it evokes a sense of nostalgia for school days and simpler times. Evocative of log cabins and Scandinavian furniture, cedar adds warmth to the overtly modern. In the perfumer’s palette, it has the power to inject energy and lend verticality to a fragrance.

BYREDO 50ml Super Cedar - £90Super: formal – prefix from the Latin super, meaning above, beyond, expressing superiority of quality, of the highest degree, hierarchical superiority; informal someone or something that is exceptional, superior, extraordinary.

Cedar: masculine derived from the Latin cedrus, large tree with horizontal branches native to Africa, Asia and the Americas, diffuses a scent of dry wood, sagebrush and turpentine.
