August made the Birds proud to live in Manchester.

Their special guests this month included the brilliant Jay Ego Artist who chatted to the Birds about his much anticipated exhibition which hits Manchester on September 22nd at Piccadilly Place from six till nine in the evening and it’s there for two weeks. This is going to be an amazing exhibition and it’s free to get in, so don’t miss it.

The Birds also had a fantastic opportunity to chat to one of UK’s finest songwriting talents and an accomplished live performer. The original guitarist, singer and main songwriter in British rock band The Stranglers, who’s enjoyed massive UK and European success with ten hit albums and twenty-one Top Forty singles. Yes, that’s him, the one and only Hugh Cornwell. His new album, “The Fall & Rise of Hugh Cornwell,” will be released at the end of August. What a top guy he was to chat to.

Meanwhile Caz was swanning around the gorgeous Island of Achill in County Mayo, Ireland where she was spoiled not only by the gorgeous breathtaking coastline but also by the fab, luscious, fresh fish on hand every day. Yes, she indulged in fresh lobster, crab, mackerel and cod which she claims she caught herself! Can you really see Caz as a deep-sea fisherwoman? Never heard of Achill? Have a look for yourself it’s an amazing place.

Ems was a very busy Bird putting together the big September Issue of VIVA Magazine which has now hit the streets of Manchester and Cheshire. You can pick up your copy in most of the bars, restaurants and hotels around the area.
The end of August took the Birds out onto the streets of Manchester. The last bank holiday of the year and everyone was in a party mood. Caz took herself off to check out The Manchester Soul Festival at The Printworks and what a brilliant turnout there was. It was the first of many, the organisers said and they raised well over their target of ten thousand pounds for Christies. Packed with Soul lovers from all over the place and even some Emmerdale stars – who had turned out for a dance – there was Caz was in the middle of it all. She was seen checking out some of the bands and performers at Glaston-Bury Bury. Involving most of the local pubs and bars, it’s a brilliantly-organised event featuring some amazing talent including a very energetic crazy band called Thingumibob and the Thingumijigs and also the mighty Manchester Ska Foundation who smashed it at The Bury Met. If you’re into your SKA music then this a must-see band. All gig dates at www.manchesterskafoundation.com
In the meantime Viva Ems was spinning her tunes at loads of different venues including Double Tree Hilton, Malmaison and, the new bar and restaurant, MCR42. With it being The Manchester Pride it was absolutely rocking everywhere as Viva Ems knows just how to get the party started with those decks of hers.
