If you’re struggling for ways to celebrate Mother’s Day why not head down to Texture Manchester on Saturday the 10th March to dance, sing, and celebrate all things mum.

If you’ve ever wondered what your mum is like on a night out, or wanted to see your nana on the dancefloor then this is your chance.

The Mother’s Day Disco is being hosted by Girl Gang Manchester, a ‘fluid collective of female artists, activists, academics, and party instigators.’

The Girl Gang are known for empowering women and championing female friendship and have hosted many fun events in the past such as the Galantine’s Day Disco to get the people of Manchester up and dancing.

This Disco is a club night like no other, creating a cross generational dance party celebrating Mums and welcoming Mum’s, daughters, and Mother figures of all ages.

Megan Griffith, one of Girl Gang’s primary producers, said that the idea of nightlife being sanctioned off to young people is ridiculous.

She said: “We really just want to make a night out that’s inclusive to all ages”

“On the surface it’s fun and silly and just a night out but there’s something quite special and powerful about having a club night for people of all ages.”

The event not only wants to get everybody up on the dance floor, but it wants to celebrate the complex but beautiful thing that is a mother daughter relationship.

The disco is being held at the Girl Gang’s favourite spot Texture Manchester, a wheelchair accessible venue with a fabulous dance floor guaranteed to get everybody up and grooving.

Don’t worry if you’re not a mum or if your mum is busy for the night, being or bringing a mum is not essential and with such a wide variety of people on the dancefloor you’re guaranteed to have a brilliant time regardless.

Manchester DJ’s Just Jane from Take me to church Prestwich and Hazel O’Keefe from Club Feminista and Dulcet Sounds will be Dj’ing for the night playing bangers from the sixties up until now to ensure everyone can have a boogie to a song they love.

If this event is anything like previous Girl Gang events then you can expect homemade decorations, glitter, and good vibes.

Rumour even has it that there will be a photo booth where you can take pics with your loved ones to remember the night by.

Yes, this is the Mother’s Day disco but just like all Girl Gang events everybody is welcome regardless of age, race, or gender.

The event starts at 8pm and tickets can be bought online here.

If you’re in the area and have nothing to do, then come along for a boogie and join the Girl Gang for a family function like no other!
