CHESHIRE: Take a trip back in time with Knutsford’s Lost & Found

Jessica Ward | 25th September 2019

Set in the historical Old Town Hall in the centre of the Knutsford community lives Lost & Found. Known for pushing the boundaries of discovery, L&F is a whimsical world of molecular mixology and seasonal cuisine.

Stepping back in time to the roaring 20’s, Lost & Found has been beautifully designed with a breathtaking art deco theme across it’s restaurant and bar. Downstairs, the expansive bar serves a range of cocktails, spirits and beers on tap.

With more of a casual feel, the bar menu features an array of options from open sandwiches to pizza and seasonal favourites. Perfect for daytime drinks and dinner with friends.

The Lost & Found Knutsford

Upstairs, in the main restaurant the vibe is classic and fabulous. To enter the main restaurant, one must climb a grand staircase, fully restored to its former glory. Featuring a library encased with old leather-bound books, and an old-fashioned typewriter, you really do feel as though you are taking a trip back in time.

The cocktail menu features a range of Professor cocktails, named after famous historic characters, including Emily B Kingsley, whom the grand restaurant is named after. There are also a range of Lost cocktails and of course the Found cocktails, very aptly named.

The cocktails themselves are made to the highest quality. We were particularly impressed with the “Picture Perfect” Cocktail, blended perfectly with Absolut Pear Vodka, Licor 43, Lemon juice, Almond syrup , Apple juice and garnished with a personalised polaroid picture.

The staff are extremely knowledgeable when it comes to cocktails. If you are feeling overwhelmed by the expansive menu, you are in capable hands, just put your trust in the staff there, they know their stuff!

To start the CRISPY DUCK SALAD with a shredded vegetable salad and hoisin dressing went down a treat, and the SPICED SWEET POTATO with charred red pepper & kale salad, tossed in a chipotle dressing & topped with coconut yogurt & chilli seeds looks and tastes phenomenal. Starters are all reasonably priced ranging anywhere from £6.50 – £9.50. The portion sizes are also very generous.

The mains consisted of a POLLO PEPERONCINO spicy chilli chicken pizza with Peppadew peppers, marinated Mozzarella, goats’ cheese and red onion. Cooked to perfection, with a nice chilli kick. The thin base is freshly made to order.

A fantastic seasonal main is the GNOCCHI WITH ROASTED BUTTERNUT SQUASH. Made with garden peas, garlic, crème fraîche topped with crispy sage, kale pesto & Gran Moravia cheese, this dish has the perfect balance of flavour. The gnocchi is cooked beautifully and simply melts in the mouth while the rich herby sauce soaks perfectly into the vegetables making this dish a firm favourite.

A dessert you don’t see on a lot of restaurant menus is the SPICED CARROT CAKE topped with whipped cream cheese and caramelised pecans. A firm favourite amongst diners is the DARK CHOCOLATE & PEANUT BUTTER PARFAIT with caramelised banana and caramel sauce. Both desserts are solid options, should you have enough room left for a pud!

VIVA Verdict: An experience which surpassed our expectations. From the friendly staff to the high level of food and drink served, this is a place worthy of a visit whenever you are in the area.
