Hidden deep in the Cheshire countryside, in a little town called Alsager, lies the Spa at Manor House. This spa is buzzing with unique facilities such as the large hydrotherapy pool, potting shed sauna, ice plunge bath as well as the spa’s crowning jewel, the UK’s first swim up bar.
This spa really is a hidden oasis, and here’s what happened when VIVA went to visit…
Upon arrival we were greeted by the Spa receptionist who welcomed us warmly and armed us with a map (you know it’s a good spa when you need a map to navigate your way around!) a key fob for access, a robe, towel flip flops and a gorgeous tote bag. We were told we were welcome to keep the bag and the flip flops. A nice touch and lovely souvenirs to go away with!
We booked the Ultimate Summer Spa Day priced from £180, which includes an English Garden Mocktail, 7 Hours Access to The Indoor Spa & English Spa Garden Facilities, Robe, Towel & Flip Flops, Choice of Mezze Platter OR Afternoon Tea, 60 Minute Treatment and a one hour reservation in the Relax Lounge following treatment. We even booked in for 30 minutes in the salt shed, something I highly recommend if you are coming for the day.
We made our way to the changing rooms, slipped into our swimsuits and robes and went out to the garden area. Weather wise we were incredibly lucky, with not a single cloud in sight and the temperature around 25 degrees, we headed into the outdoor pool and of course, towards the swim up bar to redeem our English Garden Mocktail, which looked and tasted like an upscale mojito, minus the rum.
Within this area there are plenty of cabana beds to choose from. We made ourselves comfortable and soaked up some much needed vitamin D.
As well as the Vitality Pool, there is also a Hydrotherapy Tub, The Pavilion which is a beautiful relaxation room with heated beds and swinging chairs with stunning views across the Cheshire countryside, a Salt Steam Inhalation Chamber, Potting Sauna Shed, Plunge Bath and plenty of stunning outdoor seating areas to relax.
We had a little explore before making our way to the reservation only Salt Shed. I was very impressed by this experience and I loved the concept. We were shown to the Salt Shed which gets its name from the floor to ceiling wall of Himalayan Salt. Known for its unique combination of minerals said to help to stimulate circulation and detoxify the body.
We laid down in this room as we listened to a guided meditation, the ending of the meditation signalling that our time was up.
After the Salt Shed it was time for Afternoon Tea. This consisted of a delicious spread of sandwiches, cakes and of course scones, which we washed down with a glass of prosecco.
the afternoon tea was beautiful, and without a doubt it is up there with the best. All the food was freshly made and both light and indulgent. We devoured the entire tray.
In the afternoon we explored the Summer House, which is a beautiful conservatory like area with a real calming, botanical feel. The entire spa feels really Insta worthy, with plenty of spots to snap a fabulous picture. We also headed to the pool house, which features an indoor pool, sauna and steam room.
When it was time for my treatment I headed back to reception and my therapist took me into one of their many treatment rooms. I opted for the Sound Asleep Massage, as mama of a toddler going through a sleep regression, I cannot begin to describe how much I needed this!
The massage itself is all about having the body gently realigned and put back together again.
I have to admit, this really was a body massage like no other, I genuinely did float off into deep relaxation, which felt so long overdue. After my 60 minutes were up, I felt tired, relaxed and as though I was floating on air. I highly recommend this treatment to any tired mamas, like me who are desperate for a break.
Overall, our spa experience was a 10/10. I was blown away by the facilities and the staff, both in equal measure. As my base is in Congleton, the spa is a 25 minute drive, practically on my doorstep. I was astounded I had never heard about it until now. This spa certainly is Cheshire’s best kept spa secret, and without a doubt, the best spa I have ever visited.
