Cotton on to some great food: It’s that time of year when we can all indulge and treat ourselves, so VIVA checked out the foodie offer at Cottons Hotel & Spa and found a gem of a venue.
We loved their ‘Taste of Cheshire’ grazing table at this gorgeous spa venue in the heart of Cheshire, just near Knutsford. It manages to be both healthy and delicious.
It works on a buffet basis and you can get a small plate to load up at £12 or a big plate for £21. We went large and loaded up with some great fresh fish, juicy prawns, salmon, before going back and tackling the cured meats.
All this and some healthy seasonal salads to get your greens in a delicious way. What’s more you can order any side and for an additional fiver, a glass of Prosecco.
While my companion tucked into the biggest portion of fish and chips we’ve ever seen, with a light, crispy batter and three sauces, including gravy, mushy peas (of course) and tartare. Just wonderfully cooked comfort food.

It’s a lovely atmosphere with robe clad spa goers mixing with other diners in a stylish setting and great attentive staff looking after you.
Onto pudding and again this was some great cooking as we enjoyed chocolate fondant pud with the added gooey filling and a trio which we expected to be tiny dainty taster size but were in fact huge. This had the chocolate pud but also a wonderfully melty Manchester tart and a rich cheesecake.
They’ve also just launched a choice of festive afternoon teas throughout December. Enjoy this special occasion with friends or family where you can relax in style, take in the Christmas atmosphere with the afternoon teas created to showcase the season with beautiful cakes and sweet treats as well as a range of fine teas from Taylor’s of Harrogate served in style.
Choose from Festive Afternoon Tea at £24.95 per person, bubbly Prosecco Afternoon Tea for £29.95 per person, or push the boat out with Champagne Afternoon Tea for £32.95 per person. There’s even a special Children’s Afternoon Tea for £15 per kid, so the whole family can join in.
And they will also be hosting Special Sunday Lunch with Santa 12th & 19th December with Christmas cancelled last year, make this festive season all the more magical with a Sunday lunch with all the trimmings and be joined by family and friends and a special guest scheduled.
Enjoy a delicious roast lunch within beautiful festive surroundings, before Santa mingles with younger visitors, distributing exciting early Christmas gifts! (for those up to 12 years)
