CHESHIRE: Discover a taste of the Caribbean at Kingston Town Jamaican Grill

Set in Congleton’s new foodie destination, Capital Walk, lies Kingston Town Grill a restaurant bringing the sunshine to Cheshire through authentic Caribbean food and drink.
Kingston Town Jamaican Grill takes its inspiration from the street food stalls of Jamaica. With an interior reminiscent of a bright beach shack, and a menu packed with true Caribbean street cuisine.
On the menu you can expect to find Jamaican classics such as Jerk Chicken, rice and peas and curry goat, as well as a range of island favourites to transport you straight to the beach with dishes such as honey glazed salmon, plantain and of course Mac and cheese.
Jamaican cuisine uses a variety of spices and herbs with results ranging from spicy to sweet and savoury and everything in between. Jamaica’s national dish is Ackee and Saltfish, another dish you can find at Kingston Town Jamaican Grill.
The Saltfish is essentially salted codfish, whilst the Ackee is a delicate and slightly nutty flavoured fruit originating from Ghana in Africa, which historically, had been brought over by slaves in this territory. The fruit now grows in abundance all over Jamaica.
Overall, Jamaican food is a culinary melting pot, which reflects the many cultures that have influenced the island throughout history.
We tried out the curry goat, the pepper steak and the jerk prawns, all of which were packed full of flavour, super tasty and authentic. The mac and cheese was my personal favourite, just comfort food at it’s finest.
Kingston Town don’t scrimp out on desserts either. We had a HUGE slab of cornflake tart which was super yummy and vegan too!
Capital Walk is Congleton’s newest foodie destination with a unique concept. Capital Walk features restaurants from all around the world from Jamaican to Thai, Mexican and Brazilian and everything in between.
Diners at capital walk can sit anywhere in the building and order from any restaurant with an online central booking system. Simply scan in a QR code and order from the restaurant you wish to try and the wait staff will bring it straight over to your table as soon as it is ready.
