Disney’s THE LION KING returns to the Palace Theatre in Manchester this Autumn, as it celebrates welcoming a whopping 20 million guests in the UK.
Julie Taymor’s internationally celebrated stage adaptation of THE LION KING opened on Broadway in 1997 and 25 global productions in nine different languages have been created since then, so it’s no suprise that the previous tour of THE LION KING broke attendance records across the nation.
The stage adaptation of the Disney hit mimics the plot line of the film, following the story of a young lion named Simba on his journey to follow in the footsteps of his father, the King of the Pridelands.
With elaborate puppetry used to convey the tale (232 puppets to be precise), the spellbinding costumes, stunning scenery and well-known hits like Elton John’s ‘Circle of Life’ and ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’, THE LION KING is an onstage spectacle not to be missed.
Opening on the 27 October 2022, The Walt Disney Company UK and Ireland and Manchester Theatres will be releasing more tickets tomorrow (17 June 2022) for a seven week extension of the hit musical. You can buy your tickets here.
