Dreaming of a getaway? E.M.A finds fun in the sun riding the Dubai waves. Join her for the ride of your life!
The UAE has recently celebrated its 50th year anniversary, with elective monarchy formed from a federation of seven emirates only 50 years ago, consisting of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman, Fujairah, Was Al Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm Al Quwain.
With Dubai being the largest city out of the Emirates you can imagine there is a lot to see across this sparkly city in the desert and I’ve found the perfect way to view Dubai from across the fresh waters with Popeye Jet Ski.
Popeye Jet Ski.
ABOUT POPEYE JET SKI
Popeye Jet Ski is owned and operated by Nicolas and Driss, two French expats passionate about water sports. The Popeye Jet Ski team have more than 10 years’ experience in the tourism industry and offer premium services such as jet skiing, sea karts, boats, donuts, flyboard jetpack, and kayak, all at competitive prices.
WHAT TO EXPECT ON ARRIVAL
Popeye Jet Ski is located in the beautiful fishing harbour of Umm Suqueim, it’s very easy to find and there is parking directly outside.
On arrival you are met with the very friendly reception girls who will arrange your requested activity, but it is advised to pre book via the website especially in peak season as Popeye Jet Ski is very popular with the local expats.
Today we wanted to experience Dubai by jet skis and opted for the 30min Burj al Arab Tour which takes you to downtown Dubai skyline and Burj Khalifa then across to the Burj al Arab for a photo stop.

HOW I FELT JET SKIING
I’m a big fan of jet skiing and could not wait to get out to the water on Popeye’s brand-new Yamaha 1800cc with 220 horsepower jet ski with my friend Carla. Our tour guide Amine Bentalha, who was a professional surfer from Marruecos, was a lot of fun and we were hitting up to 80kph across the Arabian waves!
TIP: do not wear your favourite sunglasses because like me you don’t want to see, or not see them, at the bottom of the ocean! After whizzing around downtown Dubai we stopped for a photo opportunity in front of one of the most famous buildings in the UAE; the Burj al Arab.
I just love the rush of driving a jet ski with the wind in your hair, crashing against the waves, and with Dubai’s amazing scenic scenes from the waters’ edge this was one of those dream moments.
This really was a dream 30min for me, I love being out in the water and to see Dubai by jet ski was just unreal. The only thing was I wanted to go for longer so I think next time I will take the full hour Burj al Arab & Marina Skyline tour or the two-hour Atlantis Palm Jumeirah full tour.
After arriving back at the Popeye Jet Ski HQ, we showered and dried off, had a complementary coffee and downloaded the pictures and videos our tour guide Amine had taken.
As I mentioned before Popeye Jet Ski is located in the beautiful fishing harbour of Umm Suqueim so after we’d said goodbye to the Popeye Jet Ski team we went and explored the fishing harbour and grabbed an ice cream.
