Emmet & Wyldstyle 3

On Friday 10 July, Emmet and Wyldstyle, awesome stars of The LEGO® MOVIE™ visited Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital in aid of its inaugural children’s festival -Zest Fest.

The characters visited the children between 11am – 1pm along with local bands and community groups and of course Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital mascot, Humphrey the Bear!

For the first time ever, Zest Fest was hosted at the hospital to celebrate the ‘Medical Notes’ project which brought live music and entertainment to the wards at the hospital.

Emmet and Wyldstyle, stars of The LEGO® MOVIE™ and weekend residents at LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre, were in attendance to provide an extra awesome afternoon of fun and games for the children to enjoy.

They were joined by local professionals, school groups and volunteers, filling the hospital with music and creativity. The day was supported by the Department of Specialised and Therapeutic Play at the hospital.

Jonathan Royle, Marketing Manager of LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre comments: “We were thrilled to take Emmet and Wyldstyle to the Children’s Hospital, it’s very close to our hearts. This summer marks The LEGO® MOVIE™ awesome character’s first visit to Manchester so LEGO® fans at the hospital were able to get some great pictures with our VIP guests!”

Hannah Thomas, Events Manager at Royal Manchester Children’s hospital adds: “Zest Fest is a fantastic day for children and families within the hospital. Our children are massive LEGO® fans and couldn’t wait to meet the awesome stars of The LEGO® MOVIE™, Emmet and Wyldstyle.”

One child who really enjoyed the visit from Emmet and Wyldstyle was 11-year-old LEGO® fan Leyton.

Rachael Edwards, Leyton’s mum, said: “It was great to see Emmet and Wyldstyle at the hospital today. It’s really lovely to have visits like this to cheer up the patients. Leyton is mad about LEGO® and was really excited to talk to Alex, LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre’s Master Model Builder about how they build the models.”
