Escape to the Doner Bar at Freight Island: Michelin-starred chef, Brad Carter has launched his first kebab shop ‘One Star Döner Bar’ at everyone’s favourite city hot spot, Escape to Freight Island.
Michelin star and a kebab is not something we thought we’d hear in the same sentence, but trust us, when you’ve tried it, you’ll be heading back before you know it.
All kebabs are served on Pide flatbreads sourced from a Turkish Bakery in Manchester, topped with the very best of British produce including Cornish Lamb, Tamworth Mortadella and Cotswold White Chicken. You won’t be able to choose your favourite and will keep having to go back until you get round to sampling the whole menu.
Top tip: get everyone at your table to order a different kebab so you can have the best of all.
If you’re no stranger to a kebab you’ll be pleased to know there are two shawarmas on offer, the Mortadöner, using mortadella, shredded cabbage, cavolo nero and Margarita Hot Sauce; and the Bonedöner with chicken, kebab van salad, pickled chillies and Roast Garlic Mayo.
A Lamb Döner is served with kebab van salad, smoked chilli sauce, minted yoghurt and grilled pointed peppers.
Brad has even added a little nostalgia with an adult twist in the form of his signature potato smileys, served as a side with either Hot Wing Mayo or Cacio e Pepe sauce.
