Exclusive Sigma photos raise money for mental health charity MIND
| 17th March 2018
Sigma photographer Myles Wright unveiled his very first exhibition, Life Through the Lens, showcasing exclusive behind-the-scenes photos and more from his tour with the DJ duo.
Curated over a long period of 18 months touring with the band and their team, the insightful collection of 27 pieces gave fans a glimpse into their lives that would otherwise go unseen – and it attracted a full house at Eat New York Bagel Shop in Manchester’s Northern Quarter on Friday night.
Myles said: “Life Through the Lens is sort of celebration … it’s been almost two years this May, I think that’s when I first shot them, so it’s sort of like a celebration for me, a celebration for them of their first album.”
Life Through the Lens, was inspired by the group’s first album titled Life, amassing Wright’s best work stretching as far back as his very first night working with them at the O2 Ritz, a huge show noted for totally selling out.
After hours of preparation the exhibition was finally ready for the public at the Eat New York Bagel Shop on Oldham Street, a place Myles felt resonated with the target demographic well.
“I was just walking up and down Northern Quarter, because it’s so trendy, there’s young people and the vinyl shops and I stumbled upon this place.
“It just fit the genre, it’s new and it’s contemporary.”
While these original prints are only viewable for one-night only, there will be prints available for purchase following the exhibition, with 15% of the profit going toward the Mind Charity.
The Mind Charity provide advice and support to anyone experiencing a mental health problem along with extensive campaigns to both improve services and raise awareness for those suffering with these issues.
Myles said; “It’s a great cause. It’s a key issue where we are now, it’s in the news, more people need to be talking about it, it needs to be heard more.
“It’s the least I can do for them, to help that cause.“
The Bagel Shop is a relatively new addition to the Oldham Road, only opening in December, aiming to serve New York classics in the heart of Manchester, along with a wide selection of cocktails and drinks.

They are no stranger to events; the venue being designed with hosting in mind. Closing time in the restaurant sees the tables put away for regular events almost every weekend.
While Myles has no plans yet for his next big project he has no intention of stopping his work with Sigma, hoping to continue working with them along with his other freelance working going forward.
