FALL IN LOVE MOODBOARD

Summer is all but done and so time to think about cosying up for Autumn. Sanita from Luci Living Design tells VIVA how to bring the warm colours of the season into your home with these beautiful and simple decorating projects.

Sanita points out that there are masses of ways to decorate your home for autumn but pumpkins, squash, autumnal foliage and pinecones are simple and effective. Display in a beautiful bowl, just on the side or consider decorating the outside your home for added loveliness and neighbour envy. Make an autumnal wreath for your door from miniature pumpkins and twigs there are plenty of online tutorials to check out.

Autumn colours look amazing set against cream and neutral tones. Use warm shades, natural woods and other colours associated with twigs, fallen leaves, pears, pumpkins especially yellow, brown, green, orange and gold tones to create the look. No need to change furniture seasonally – just add a few decorations in relevant earth colours such as cushions, throws and accessories. www.dunelm.com have some great ranges this season.

Candles are always a winner and Bolsius pillar candle in ivory from www.thornhillgardencentre.co.uk with wrought iron or wooden candlesticks arranged with apples, cinnamon sticks and other foraged items will look great. www.notonthehighstreet.com sell a lovely set of eleven decorative Autumn Leaves candle votives and some perfect Moroccan Bowls by Merzouga in just the right colours.

Here are some more of Sanita’s decorating ideas for your home this Autumn…..

Get Arty

Display art with an autumn theme. Nature themes work best in colours of oranges, rusts, and golden yellows. Abstracts also work well. If you have wall space add an autumn landscape or decorative leafy wall display.

Top Tables

Add centre pieces for tables in either formal or casual styles. Choose colours that reflect your home decor and the season. Red and yellow apples for organic and edible centrepieces. Use coloured table linen for more formal settings. Poole Volcano Tall Bottle Vase from www.johnlewis.com is stunning and just the right colours and we love this set of four gold dipped glasses available from www.notonthehighstreet.com.

Make An Entrance

Dress up your front door or entrance way with autumn inspiration. Use corn, raffia, straw, twigs and leaves. Add ribbon in deep oranges and browns to contrast.

Get Cosy

With the temperature dropping bring out the autumn coloured or wool throw blankets and place on couches or in baskets. Add cushions with autumn prints and designs.

Nice & Spicy

Nothing says autumn better than pumpkin, cinnamon, apple cider, cloves and nutmeg. Source candles with beautiful aromas to add to the theme.

Get Crafty

Use your imagination with seasonal DIY projects. Look on line for creative home decorating tips and inspiration. If you would rather cheat then www.notonthehighstreet.com sell some lovely dried Autumnal hanging decorations you might prefer.

Show & Tell

Fill jars with seasonal coloured items to show your efforts. For easy inexpensive display items, fill mason jars or decorative glass jars with beautiful Autumn goodies.

Go Heavy

As the weather gets cooler get ready for it by swapping lighter summer fabrics for heavier ones in deeper colours such as curtains. Not only will you feel warmer but you will also save money on your bills.

Whatever you do try to fall in love with your home this Autumn.
