Families choose UK holiday destinations which bring them closer to nature

It has been a decade since the ‘staycation’ made its mark on the British travel industry and with families increasingly choosing to escape the crowds and holiday closer to nature, it looks like it’s here to stay.
In 2009, appetites for holidaying in the UK increased dramatically, as British travellers shunned trips abroad. According to the Caravanning and Camping Mintel Report 2018, there were 17.8 million trips taken in the UK as a whole during this year.
Ten years later and staycations are still hugely popular, with UK holiday searches and bookings up a third in 2019* compared to the previous year, highlighting that more people are exploring locations across the UK, and seeking out popular British destinations.
Interestingly, Mintel also found that 48 per cent of caravan holiday goers choose this type of getaway in a bid to be closer to nature, with 38 per cent admitting to wanting to escape from the crowds and nearly a third (31 per cent) having a desire to visit remote places.
